Canada 2017
November 02, 2016, 10:16:15 PM
As we all know Canada will be celebrating its 150th Birthday next year.
The RCM decided to issue special designs on all five circulating denominations for the occasion. There was a competition and here is a link to the five winning designs:

http://www.mint.ca/store/product/rcmcoins.jsp?campaignName=MCMI&pId=6200014&lang=en_CA&rcmiid=tf|shpb|mcmi

Personally, I don't like the designs for the 5c and the 25c. But they hadn't good choices anyway.
The 10c and the Toonie are okay. The only design I really like is the Loonie.
Well, now lets wait and see how the actual coins will look.

As I understand, the normal designs will not be issued for circulation in 2017, only these. It remains to be seen whether that ''promise'' will hold.

Thanks for the link Ralf.
I like the 10c as I never really liked the normal 10c because the boat is very plain.

I collect the One Dollar and Twenty Five cent coins only.   Have to keep my eyes open for these.

I bit the bullet (after trades fell throught) and bought some of these coins recently:

By the way, the forum refuses to upload a photo of the coloured $2.

Nice to see you finally got some of those Canadian coins you have been chasing.
Did you try uploading the coloured $2 in a separate post. Might have been too
many Mb for one post.

More likely that the file was too large.   You need to reduce the size of picture

Original file size is basically the same (~1,7 MB) as the four photos that made it in the post above

Another try...

Nice coin Ralf.
Glad you managed to post it.
I normally drop my pics down to about 600 - 800 pixels so it fits on the screen.

I find it a little bit sad that the 50 Cent coin doesn't circulate in Canada anymore.

Same with the U.S.
Yet here in Aus the 50c is a very popular coin.

The Australian 50 Cent coin is a true monster  ;D

The difference between USA/Canada and Australia/Eurozone is simple (disregarding 1c/2c coins):
USA/Canada: 5c-10c-25c-($1-$2)
Australia/Eurozone: 5c-10c-20c-50c-$1/€1-$2/€2
---->a 50c coin doesn't really fit in when there is a 25c coin, especially when its as large as the Kennedy Half.
At least, that's what I think.
