Do vinyl sheets for 2x2 coin holders damage the coins?

I have recently picked up a lot of vinyl pages to organize my growing world coin collection. After stocking up on these sheets (they are made by BCW), I came across quite a bit of debate online whether they will damage the coins in 2x2 cardboard holders over time.  They are very sturdy, but I wonder if they will give my coins a PVC haze in the years to come. Has anyone here used Vinyl sheets like these for 10 or 20 years? If so, did they damage your coins through the 2x2 cardboard holders over time?

The BCW20C sheets that you bought are made from heavy duty vinyl, rather than polypropylene. The polypropylene sheets are considered archival safe, but I'm not sure about the vinyl sheets. Sorry, I don't have any personal experience with these sheets.

I just did a search on another coin forum and it seems that this type of page can deteriorate over the decades and chemicals may leach out and into the mylar of the 2x2. This in turn can make it almost impossible to remove the 2x2 from the page. It is recommended that you use 2x2 sheets made specifically for photo slides, as these are a much better quality.

I use the similar pages and I think it will be okay also about a few years.

I have had some experience with vinyl (PVC) album pages. When stored for prolonged periods, the plasticizer in the PVC leaches out of the album page and into the mylar film of the 2x2. After a relatively short while, the outer surface of the 2x2 becomes sticky. This will not only make the coin difficult to remove from the album page, but will also pick up dirt and dust from whatever surface the sticky 2x2 is placed on - which in turn makes the coin inside look much uglier than it really is.

I have not known the plasticizer to pass all the way through the mylar film and attack the coin itself, but I don't doubt that given enough time (over a decade), it could do so.

I have had gold sovereigns in mylar 2x2 in pvc sheets for 35 years in a bank safe
The pvc was hard meaning the plasticizer had largely gone
The 2x2 had to be removed by inserting a piece of hardboard like a visiting card
prying it loose from the pvc before it could be extracted
Whether this was adhesion or a chemical reaction I do not know but since the white hardpaper
stuck the most I think it was oldfashioned adhesion

The coins itself had a few green copper rot spots that had to be removed by
a bath in acetone . So the air you seal into the 2x2 is detrimental too

Overall it looks that a type of airtight capsule in hard plastic is the only real protection
if the coin fits perfectly ( otherwise you get rubbing if you ship the coin )

There are a few different brands and types of coin holding sheets that I am considering to replace the vinyl sheets that I currently have my collection in. With more expensive coins I do use hard plastic air-tites, and these would be for the ones that I have in cardboard 2x2 holders.

The first type that I am looking at is made by BCW. They state that this type is made of Polypropylene, with no acid, no pvc, and safe for long term storage.  It would be the cheapest solution, and I can get 300 of them for about 55 dollars.  Here is the link to them on amazon:

The second type I am looking at is made by Ultra-Pro.  These state that they are archival safe, and they have double thumb cuts so it is easier to get the coins out.  This is one of the features that my vinyl sheets have that is really nice.  They are 7 dollars for a 10 pack, which is a lot more expensive than the BCW sheets. The third choice is made by Lighthouse, and the sheets would require a special binder made by lighthouse.  They look pretty nice in the pictures, but they are very expensive. If i go with these, I would have to shop the prices a little first.  Here is the link to them:

Are there any similar sheets to hold 2x2s that you like?

I use similar sheet but unfortunately with vinyl. I think first product is good and price is good too. If you have covers with for 3 holes it will be the best solution. Thumb cuts are sure better but I think it is not huge problem and price is more much better.
