What did you get for Christmas?
December 24, 2013, 08:37:04 PM
I told my Daughter that all I wanted for Christmas was coins,
but she bought me banknotes as well.

1 1/2 ounce silver, must be a big coin or is it thick.
Is that a Fox on the design?

I received a beautiful 2005 Slovak 6 coin proof set. It's a great set with much information about the history and designs of these coins. Thank you Secret Santa (Eric-?).

Nice note, Joe. Looks like it is really small.

Doesn't matter what else we get for Christmas,
it wouldn't be complete without Mum's trifle.

We spoon it into bowls first, Joe, otherwise the rest of the family would be worried that I would get the lions share  :)  As for fruit cake, I love it.

It is a fox and it is very lovely.  I haven't learned how to make my camera phone take a good shot of shiny coins yet.  The coin is very thick.  8 dollars Canadian.  :D

I also got two Franklin half dollars for my set.  1948 and 1956.  Only 16 more of those to go, and I already have the 55!

Do add this coin to my collection?

Franklin halves look like they might be a relatively easy set to complete, as long as you don't want high end coins. According to my 2008 Redbook, most of them were about $8 each in EF. What are they worth now?
I only have 2 of them, a 1958D aUNC and 1963D VF. I have a long way to go.

Here's mine...

Steve, the going price (retail) for Franklins (Dec 2013) in EF is a minimum of $11.

Great story, Joe.
Thanks for the offer and I will keep that in mind.
At the moment I am trying to save for a couple of Lincolns I need.

Thank you Joe. :) I've got a good line on completing my set, but as with anything it'll just take a little bit of time.  Someone I know just bought a bag of 90% silver for an investment, and allowed me to go through the bag.  There were a few really nice coins in what was otherwise just a bag of investment silver.  I'm pretty sure I can complete the set through that avenue and I know the coins won't be going anywhere any time soon.  I just have to replace the value of the silver for the coins that I want.  Not a bad deal at all.

Do add this coin to my collection?
