Nice. I have a time finding cents that are not all potted up. I get new coins out of the roll and they look like they are  15 or 20 years old. I don't think the U.S. is doing much good with there quality control on the cents.

I AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY ---WHEN YOU GET A ROLL OF WHEATS THEY LOOK VERY GOOD BUT IF YOU GET ANY U.S. PENNYS FROM ABOUT 1990 ON THEY LOOK SO POTTED AND UGLY YOU WPOULD NOT USE THEM IN A COLLECTION[........THE BEST THING TO DO IS BUY A MINT SET AND BUST IT OPEN FOR THE COINS YOU NEED....I THINK THAT IS WHAT THE MINT WANTS YOU TO DO............/color]

I have noticed that the cents tend to have spots on them, but down here, I can't be too fussy.

I have not been impressed by how cents produced since 1982 are holding up since they switch them to be mainly zinc.

My boss recently won a "business trip" to Hawaii.
He bought me back a little bag of loose change.
Although I already had most of the coins, I did
manage to add 4 quarters to my collection,
including a nice looking 1985 Washington.

The U S has made the zinc cent since 1982. I metal detect a lot and some zincolns (zinc Lincoln cents) I find in the ground are eaten away, sometime half eaten away being only 7 to 10 yrs old. I've found 145+ yr old Indian Head cents (in the ground) that are 95% copper and come out of the ground sometimes in VG to XF condition. I think in the near future, the U S will go to the copper plated steel cent as Canada has had since 1999, although Canada did overlap alloys - copper plated zinc, from 1999 to 2012, which was the final minting of the Canadian cent.

In the UK our 1 pence and 2 pence coins have been copper plated steel since 1992.

Our 5 pence and 10 pence coins have been nickel plated steel since 2011.

The U S congress is trying to avoid plated steel coinage due to the lobbyists' (copper, zinc, nickel) actions (payoffs). Can anyone imagine the cost to convert all of the coin machines to accept magnetic coins?

The rollout of the steel core 5 pence and 10 pence coins in the UK was delayed a year to give the vending machine folks an extra year to get ready.
