Where's George takes a trip
April 09, 2013, 02:19:22 AM
I have an ideal for something fun. I don't know if our Knights around the world are familiar with the Where's George web site or not. What it is you place the serial number of a dollar bill on it and then usually stamp it with a little where's George stamp then spend the dollar. You can then go onto the web site and hopefully other people will log in and post where the bill has been last seen. My Ideal is log a bill into there web site and then start sending it to all our Knights. When it comes to you all you would have to do is long it in, then send it to the next Knight. Maybe each Knight could put some small note on it. If anyone is interested let me know. I could send it down to our friends in Austria first since that would require the most postage. Then after it travels around down there only one person would need to send it to a different country.

Good idea Pocketcoins. you can send it to me first if you like.
Actually scrub that idea, I have some U.S. notes, so I
can start it from here if you like.
We did something similar to that a few years ago, but not with the Where's George bit.
When it finally reached the end, a copy was made for all the Knights.

The reason I was going to use the where's George was so we each could see the progress of the trip. I don't know what the where's George folks would think of this but maybe we wouldn't have to tell them.  ::)  ;D

George is leaving South Eastern Kentucky heading for Western Australia. I sure hope he has a nice tripe and gets to visit a lot of Knights while down south. George is a Series 2009 and Serial # F55720328H. Triggersmob better get the spar bedroom ready.  ;D  8)

Still can't get that website to open.

Here's some scans of the previous notes we circulated.
These were Aussie only. It will be nice to have an international one.
I checked Wikipedia and they said the record number of hits for one
note is 15, I bet we can beat that.

I tried all the computers in our house and even the Daughter's
mobile phone. If we go through our normal ISP we are all blocked.
When the Daughter tried her phone from Vodaphone 3G it worked ok.
She checked it out for me and it seems that Where's George block certain
ISP providers and even some countries completely. So I guess my ISP is blocked. :(

Well that's an easy fix.If where's George blocks you guys in Australia you can just pm me and I can add the info to the site then post it here. George has already left home and headed your way and he can't come back here until he see all that fine country down there. I'm thinking he should go thou the Middle East and Europe before coming back and going around the States.

My Daughter can access the site on her phone, so it shouldn't be too bigger problem.

Now we have members in...

Slovakia
Belgium
Egypt
Turkey
Estonia

India

Have I forgot anyone?

This note should rack up some miles.

Not blocked totally in Australia as I can get here in Brisbane.

Maybe you should check with your ISP Steve and see why it is blocked.  I use OPTUS and it is OK with them.

Finally, George has arrive in Perth, Western Australia.
It only took 34 days!!
It was a bit of a surprise, as I had forgotten about him.

He is currently being guarded by the Knights Templar.

Anyone like to volunteer to be the next recipient?
Does not necessarily have to be in Australia.
If we keep sending it back and forth, we can rack up more miles kilometers.

The entry in RED as far as I can work out, does not belong to our note.  It's supposedly in Austria somewhere, not Australia, so someone has put in a 'false' entry for our note.  I can't see any way to let the Admin of the Board know or to request that it be removed.

As a consequence, the mileage needs to be reduced by 9768 Miles, so it should be 40528.

I got a warning when I posted the details on wheresgeorge, something about it being improbable that a note would have that high an average speed and spurious entries were liable to be deleted.

George is a U.S. one dollar bill, with George Washington's picture on it.
Erik, go back to page one of this thread and read it through. There is a
picture on page two.

I have an image in my head now of Mr S. George from India crammed into a parcel. LOL  ;D ;D ;D

It is now 3,969 Miles from its starting location.

That is where I went and this is the email from them:

Notice from Where's George?

A hit on one of your bills, alternate, or favorite entries, denomination: One Series: 2009, Serial Number: F5572---8H has just been deleted.

This can happen for many reasons, the most common is that someone has re-entered the same bill more than once, creating multiple, invalid, entries.

Other reasons could be:
- you deleted the initial entry yourself
- another user made an error and requested the hit to be removed.
- the hit was audited and deemd a false, mistaken, or fake hit or entry.

Many bills are deleted every single day, so unfortunately I can not tell you the specific reason for this deletion, so you'll have to trust me that the hit was never valid in the first place.

Here is a link to the bill: http://www.wheresgeorge.co! m/report.php?key=c2a02bcb3c3cf57b6b3e2bcca9e2a80290be2e878f5c106b
(You may need to copy and paste the entire link into your browser.)

Thanks for visiting Where's George? and be sure to tell your friends

Go to Where's George? right now: http://www.wheresgeorge.com

Sincerely, Where's George?

It also appeard to have removed at least one entry before mine.

I know the subconscious remembers a lot more then the conscious and since I speak 5 languages it is not out of the
question that I have seen the word pas before
On the other hand during my working live I once had a nitpicking boss who only cared about my spelling
and he was right I do not care about spelling since I think in symbols and actions and not in words

I was amazed when the company doctor told me not everybody dreams in multicolor s which I do
I thought that was "normal"
