Re: SPRING TIME TRADITION

It's some type of game where some guy, backed up by some other mean guys, tries to bean a guy a little ways away with a small sphere of yarn covered in some animal's skin. The guy who might get beaned, has a club and threatens the thrower by waving the club, but sometimes hits the skin covered sphere and tries to get revenge by hitting the thrower with the hit sphere.  Most times the sphere goes elsewhere. If it does, the hitter, getting angry, runs towards the first guy he sees to punch him out, because he is mad at the thrower and his buddys.

Some buddy of the thrower grabs the sphere with some sort of large stuffed animal skin protection on his hand and also tries to bean the guy running towards the guy who might get punched out. But, the runner gets to this small sofa cushion that's staked to the ground and 'tags' it before he is hit. Through the ages, the two groups of angry guys made some sort of agreement that if the runner 'tags' the cusion first, no punches are allowed.

This game then continues. Another guy takes the place of being beaned, and waves a club at the thrower. He by chance hits the small sphere on the ground past the thrower into a pasture where a buddy of the thrower grabs it. He then tries to bean the guy who is running toward another cushion where a thower's buddy is standing. The runner is mad and really wants to pound that guy at the second cushion.  The guy just standing around at the other cushion catches the sphere that the guy in the field threw to bean the runner and tries to jam it down the runners throat. Seeing this, the runner slides on his rear, and with his sharpened spikes on his shoes, tries to gash the guy with the sphere in his face. There is a lot of dust in the mixup, and then some clown in dark blue and a big belly yells "Yer out!"

The game continues as each side takes turns at getting beaned. Now and then, some guy will hit the sphere over a barrier or some sort of fence. It was placed around this pasture so goats, cows and horses wouldn't confuse the guys as who or what was playing this game. The guys continue their game with a few of them rounding those staked cushions, and sometimes tag the original house shaped mat they all call home, because that's what it looks like. After many times of each side not wanting to be beaned, the side with touching that house shaped mat the most, wins! And there you have it. On another day, I'll explain another game using a weird bloated animal skin......called 'Kick'.

Thanks for the explanation, Goose.
Now I am a full bottle.
Is that the same game in which they have a World Series, but only in U.S.A.? :)
