A 1945 S Nickel for you to practice your grading skills on.

Continuing with the Jefferson series here is a nice 1945 S for you to play with.
The war series composition really suites the Jefferson design in my opinion. the regular Nickel series just seems flat when compared to nice war time strikes.

Anyway here for your grading practice.
As usual it would be nice if you wrote a few lines about how you came to your grade. it will help the new folks no end.

A weak strike for sure with lots of detail missing, but fairly common with this coin. Still you can see the coin has not been in circulation and does have good color (not a fan of toned coins). The reverse is weaker than the obverse  I would still give this coin MS63 I think. Almost no bag marks and no wear that I can see. I think this coin probably came from the mint in this condiction. Wish it had a stronger strike.

The quality of the blank must have been horrible to produce the pitting
I would have put it at XF but I have no experience with this coin
Colouring does not affect the grade whatsoever pitting does
if it is uncirculated MS60 weak strike would be my bet
