Follow the Leader.
September 13, 2010, 11:18:27 PM
Just another way to see some of your coins.
I will post a pic of a coin and you must post one with either
the same date, same metal, or the same country, or same denomination or a similar design,
or anything else that relates the two coins.
Then the next person to post, must follow that new pic.

Ok here we go..

So to follow you need to post a pic of another bi-metallic coin, or one from Algeria, or any 2007 coin, or one with a cat on, or same denomination (i.e. 20, doesn't have to be Dinars).

Now show me the money.

Nice coins, Guys.
It seems that a similar rampant lion design was used on many coins.

1935 Finland, 10 Pennia

Belgium has the lion on many coins ; and yet it is strange since the flemish anthem runs something like " They will never tame the proud flemish lion as long has he got claws and can claw"

20 francs Leopold II 1882

Maybe Lions roamed Europe too, before being wiped out and left only in Africa.
Also don't forget that humans started in Africa and then spread to the rest of the world.
As for how many countries have Lions on their crest or flags, I wouldn't have a clue.

Singapore 1967, 50 Cents

The symbol of Singapore is the Merlion, half Lion and half Mermaid.
My useless piece of information for the day.

You forget the favorite sport of the Romans was to see the catholics being eaten by Lions
The Romans must have known lions before the year zero
I seem to recall lions on medieval heraldic patterns ( in countries that new Romans )

THAT IS PROBABLY TRUE PYW THAT THE ROMAN INFLUENCE BROUGHT MANY THINGS TO THE FAR REACHES OF THEIR EMPIRE......LONG BEFORE THE EUROPEANS SET OUT ON THEIR EXPLORATIONS---I KNOW THAT THE LION RANGED INTO THE MIDDLE EAST AND ARE PRESENT IN INDIA TODAY....AMONG THE NATIVE AMERICANS IT WAS THE BEAR THAT HELD MOST OF THE ESTEEM.....FOLLOWED BY THE OTHER ANIMALS........
