I'm a bit partial to bird coins. Very nice!
I just Googled them & found this:
Gough Island is major bird sanctuary in the Tristan da Cuhna group. Gough Island recently issued a set of eight legal tender, each featuring a different bird. I sincerely doubt the coins circulate as the small island is only inhabited by about six people who man a weather station, along with thousands of birds. The sale of the coins help raise funds for the school and hospital on Tristan da Cuhna. The coins . Included in the set is a 39mm copper-nickel 1 Crown, bimetallic 25 Pence, brass 20 pence, copper-nickel 10 and 5 pence and bronze 2, 1, and 1/2 Pence, all dated 2009, struck by the Commonwealth Mint. The coins picture Queen Elizabeth on the obverse and bear the names of both Gough Island and Tristan da Cuhna.
