For some reason. I can log in via this computer at a shopping centre, but can't access the site from my home computer - seem to have had the problem ever since I tried getting in to 'chat'.

Anyone got any ideas?

Does your computer have a "smart" firewall that may have declared this an hostile site ?
( eg I have a download program for two years and suddenly Norton declares it is a virus ; this is called
a false positive )
You can take your fire wall or the entire virus program off line and try again ; that is the quickest way
to find out .

Another oft reported problem is in the temp files and cookies . You may have to clean all temp files since your computer may be trying to load a cached temp file which has the problems that were reported .

Also check to see if your computer is allowed to accept session cookies. Go to: Tools-Internet Options-Privacy- Then select advanced. A box should open showing the different types of cookies your system is allowed to accept. I needs to be able to accept session cookies because this is what the forum software uses to identify your membership. If it doesn't have one you will likely get an error 404 white screen saying you are having a connection problem.

A little more info from Tobyle regarding her log on problem:

Still can’t access from home computer. Really strange that I could access site from outside computer, but not from mine. When I place the mouse cursor over the website address that you sent me, it actually says: ‘blocked”

I’ve been onto my internet provider, Microsoft and trend micro security and none of them can figure out why, so really wonder if my computer might be blocked from KOTCT end ??? Have also tried ‘restoring computer to earlier time!’.

Any ideas on what would cause this? I'll pass on any info via email that may assist her to gain access to our 'home'.

Just out of curiousity do any of you know Tobyle's IP address? I want to check it with our records to make sure her logging on to another computer did not change the address in our system? Will get with TKO as the system shows Tobyle logged on yesterday. Does anyone really log off when they leave the castle? I NEVER log off!

I log off every time.

Had another e-mail from Templar today, he still can't get in. I flicked a copy of his e-mail to TKO.
I cannot log in the first time at all. I have to click on the login button without any details in the boxes.
This brings up another login box and that's the only way I have ever been able to get in.

I NEVER log out! I also don't log on from any other locality, so there's no reason for me to log out.

I sent Tobyle the responses to this post so far, and her last message to me is: Thanks – tried all of these options – still no go. Just spoke to internet provider again – reckons my ‘address’ may have been blocked from that end.

Twoshadows, I'll ask her what her IP address is and let you know.

Still no luck - using computer from the local club - not just a case of 'can't log in' - my computer can't access this website at all. Thanks for all the suggestions - have tried them all out plus others.

Have you tried this page ? and eventually without a firewall ? I have Norton autolog into this page but generally stay logged in all the time
As to IP ; I complained to comcast they are blocking me from reaching an american friend and they asked me what IP : turns out I have a roving IP that is never twice the same to prevent anybody from tracking me

I also have that IP "issue" at home (only), but i solved it by accessing KOTCT trough http://anonymouse.org ...
...my provider is the main one in Portugal, getting Terry to unlock all their IP ranges would be too much trouble for both of us (and he already helped me by unlocking my IP ranges at work).

Suddenly working again! - no idea what the problem was - but seems to be resolved.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions to remedy the problem!

No problems from me either.  ::)

Thank goodness for that too!  8)

I'd be strung out if I couldn't access the Castle!  :)  ;)  :D  ;D

The recent update (last 10 minutes) looks like it's done the trick!

Welcome Home Tobyle!

Yeah - it was awful. Don't realize how much you miss the castle until you can't get in.

I actually put off even trying to log in for about an hour this morning, because I didn't want to see those words "can't find the website" again!

Only consolation is that when I went to the club last night to log on, I did check through some $1 coins and found 6 Aged Pension dollars.
