I'm having an exchange to America! :)
April 01, 2009, 03:46:38 AM
I just received the news that I will be one of 10 students of our school that will be part of the GAPP (German American Partnership Program) and I am really happy that I am one of these, since there were more than 40 interested people.
If I like it there in my three-week long exchange and if I get a visa I may also spend 6 months in Florida :)

Thought I could share this great news with you :)

Congratulations on your trip, you should have not much of a problem getting a visa, unlike us.  I like travelling around the world, but hate coming back to the USA because of all the hassles going through immigration with dual citizenships.

Thanks to all for congratulate me on my exchange. :)

I like to travel to other countries, too, even if I am just 16 years old.. I guess it's just an advantage to live in the heart of Europe, so I was able to visit Denmark, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Austria several times and I am going to have skiing holidays in 2 days in Austria. So having a trip to another continent will definitely be very exciting..

My school always receives one Visa per year, so it is only possible to give one student the opportunity to spend a year abroad.. In my class (30 students) there are 2 other good friends of mine who would like to go to Florida for half a year, and in the other 3 classes with students in my age there are also something like 5 in total, so it will be difficult to get this visa.. To find hosters in Florida where I will visit my partner school won't be complicated at all, said my teacher, so all I need is a bit more luck :)

Marvin, Florida? Old people.....traffic....hot.....is that what you're looking forward to? Come on up to Minnesota....only 1400 miles (2250 KM) N W of Florida. Here it's cool, great fishing and hunting, low populations, and a traffic jam is when you are behind ONE car. You decide.

He is picking the wrong time of the year to go to Flowdah, it will be hotter than Hades there then.  Even now it is like 31C there which is to flipping hot for me.

Well, I don't really care about old people, and since I am not driving a car traffic jams are not a big problem, either. Since I live in Germany and we have had so many cold winters in the past (where I live there were -4° Fahrenheit this winter), so I hope to enjoy the sun and the heat for some time.. And actually I don't have any choice to pick a state I want to go to, because my school only has contacts to three schools in Bradenton (Fl) I think, so I guess I cannot come to Minnesota, but I am pretty sure I will visit it somewhen in the future .. :)  :)

Congratulations.  However I think you might have enjoyed "Colorful Colorado" more than the Florida heat.

Marvin, the door is always open in Minnesota. -4 F? Our low this past winter was only -28 F (-34 C). But 180 miles (290 km) N E of us, it got down to -42 F (-42 C) this winter. The lowest temp ever in our state was -60 F (-53 C)......a little cool, but invigorating. Visit and get invigorated! (Our summers are excellent.)
