Million Dollar Coin
February 25, 2009, 10:13:54 PM
The largest and most expensive gold bullion coin in the world is for sale and YOU can purchase it today from one of the nation’s best and most trusted precious metals dealers. The current gold value of this coin alone is over 3.1 million dollars. Offered at only 5% over spot, this coin is sure to turn the heads of investors and collectors alike.

The American Precious Metals Exchange (APMEX), of Edmond, Oklahoma, is proud to announce that it has been chosen to sell one of the few specimens of the world’s largest gold coin.

Comprised of .99999 percent fine gold bullion, this coin weighs 100 kilos, about 220 pounds. The Royal Canadian Mint placed a face value of $1,000,000.00 Canadian Dollars on this coin. This Canadian Maple Leaf coin is the largest, purest, and highest denomination coin ever minted.

The coin features Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, and Canada’s national symbol, the maple leaf, on the reverse. This extremely rare coin is one of only five minted by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Although this coin gave the Royal Canadian Mint bragging rights for making the world’s largest and purest gold coin, the new owner will have significant ownership bragging rights as well.

If you have serious inquiries about the sale of this coin, you can contact APMEX directly at milliondollarcoin@APMEX.com Be sure to include your contact information, so an APMEX representative can respond to you about the arrangements.

In August of 2007, 3 of us from our local coin club drove up to Winnipeg, Manitoba-Canada to take a tour of the mint just 310 miles-(500km) from where we live. At the time, they had that gold 'Coin' on display. We took the tour, watched coins being minted (15 million cents a DAY...copper plated steel), and then proceeded to see the 'Coin'. It was on a stand with 1 guard with a holstered sidearm. There was a yellow tape surrounding the 'Coin' & stand. I reached over and 'felt' the coin....it seemed to be metal. The 'Coin' was approx. 2 1/2" (6.35cm) thick, and was approx. 22" (56cm) in diameter. I had my thoughts on its validity because of its size and claimed weight of 100 kilos. Wouldn't a gold coin that size weigh MORE? Why only 1 guard? True, it was on the 2nd floor, but with good planning, some group could have easily........Well, you get my drift.

When I attended a recent ANA Convention, I was amazed at how few guards were there to watch over the millions of dollars of rare coins.  They were friendly, joked with the people, and didn't seem very concered about guarding the rarest coins in the world.

Oh well, things went fine.

I am a little amazed that the numismatic community here in the states have NOT received word of this 1933 St. Gaudens being found in Egypt? It is even MORE amazing if they are claiming it is the King Farouk gold piece? I know this is the wrong thread but I have been watching the news for the big release and have heard nothing? What is the news in Egypt now EgCollector?
