2008 Proof Silver Eagle

I have tried to buy a proof Silver Eagle every year for the last 12.  Can't find a 2008, so I may have missed getting one.

My question is:  Why are they so darned expensive?  I've looked in three coin magzines, and the price is dang near $100.  I just looked up what I paid for the 2007 version:  $35.  Why is the 2008 so expensive?

This is no longer an issue for me.

Tried to buy them for the last dozen years, and ended up with six.

Gave those away as gifts.

Now my only interest in ASE's is finding some (when I can afford them) for my granddaughter (Wolf Coins4455).
