Yeah, go rub it in. Our ground is frozen to about a foot deep now and the temp here now at 11:45pm CT is 0 F (-16 C).

Goose, at least your ground is only frozen, ours has 6" of snow on it.  More coming today, and not much higher temperatures than yours.

I played in Durango Colorado last Winter Still found some coins on top few inches you just have to set you sensitivity real low and keep your digger sharp. 17 feels quite warm when you are busy retrieving that zincoln.

I hope that someday i would buy a detector and try searching with it. It seems very interesting and fun.
