The Big Crash Yesterday...
October 12, 2008, 11:58:06 PM
Picture this, it was a perfect day yesterday, no wind, nice Indian Summer day, about 77 degrees nary a cloud in the sky.

We have an old tree in the far back of the yard that died several years ago, I have wanted to cut it down, but it was too close to the barbed wire fence, and if it fell, would go down on the play house structure and doghouse in the backyard.  So we left it there, hoping it would fall on a windstorm day.

Midafternoon yesterday I heard a huge crash, and thought that since the neighbours were having a party with a bunch of teenagers, perhaps it was just something there.  No.  They came running over and rang up our door with the news, they were out back when it came down, no wind, no warning nothing.  Just came crashing down for no reason.  We had a windstorm a couple of weeks ago and the tree stood firm.

So it did take out part of the play structure, but barely missed the doghouse.

Hey, but I have instant firewood, and so whence I am not around this week you will know, because I have a chainsaw, but it is not as fun as hand sawing all the would and hand splitting it.  It is as though cutting and splitting wood is something I love doing.

It's  an  omen of things to come for our so-called "capitalism."  The same thing happened to Eddie  in 1957.

"He felt safe in the oak tree's presence; it was a thing that
nothing could change or threaten;  it was his greatest symbol of
strength.
One night, lightning struck the oak tree. Eddie saw it the next
morning. It lay broken in half, and he looked into its trunk as
into the mouth of a black tunnel.  The trunk was only an empty shell;
its heart had rotted away long ago; there was nothing inside--just a
thin gray dust that was being dispersed by the whim of the faintest
wind.  The living power had gone, and the shape it left had not
been able to stand without it."

Atlas Shrugged--Ayn Rand

I know, I know the stock market went up 900 points today. But what were they celebrating--the federal government's decision to get involved with banking? This is the same federal government that can't manage a hamster cage without screwing it up or without paying some golden hustler a jillion dollars in consulting fees.

They are celebrating the recapitalisation of the banks by governments by buying NON voting shares

Also the Banks rep allready complained that the SEC should overrule those zealous guys at the FASB who keep insisting on a way to count the toxic waste other then by computermodel
The count to maturity is not enough for them

Where I am going I ain't certain
Where I am going I don't know
All I know is that I'am on my way

Better check and make sure the socialists didn't lace the wood with ACORNS.   :D
