An Unusual Haul At My Bank Today
September 09, 2008, 06:39:59 AM
I slithered in hoping for some older bills, hadn't been in that branch in a few weeks, older bills or Ike Dollars. Nothing, zip, zilch, zippo. But they did have these come in yesterday afternoon:

I live within a hundred miles of the Canadian border, and we get a bit of Canadian change in circulation here. Usually when bills come into the bank they are all newer examples, this is the first time I have seen the 1954's in circulation. No devil heads unfortunately, but interesting cash to spend on future trip to the northern next door neighbour country.

Wow...that's a really nice find!  :)  What year range are those notes?

Three of the $1's are 1954's the rest are 1973, Five of the twos are 1954, one is 1974.  The $10's are 1971 and the $20's are 1979.  The $1's and $2's are obsolescent denominations, they were discontinued by 1990 or so.  The others, the $10's and $20's are a couple of note designs back, Bank of Canada released a whole new series, the Bird Series in the 1980's, and now they are on another more modern series after about 1999 or so.

Yeah--I was surprised to see those older notes in the back. Especially nice find if they're in better grades.
Canada was very smart when they discontinued their $1 and $2 notes--Loonies/Toonies make far better sense.

Awesome finds! I've never seen the 2s or 10s before or the new style ones! Thanks for sharing.

Great find Scottishmoney.......

It is great to have contacts at banks, someone to look out for the unusual for you.
Even better if you just walk in and obtain a find like you did.

Barry...these are ScottishMoney's notes, but I sure wouldn't mind finding something similar.  ;D
