If you are referring to the machete wielding woman
it is gold and Haiti has a different motive every year
So you could call it part of a series like Nuggets could be called part of a series

Last week I took a buy it now for a 25 000 won coin
Professional vendor refuses to deliver saying he made a mistake the coin was allready sold
By happenstance coin was 15% below melt
Gave him a nice negative and saw that was his second of the sort that month
Yesterday I got an email fromebay saying he reclaims the cost and asking me to confirm we agreed
I was very nice I sent a copy of the vendors german message and said NO way José

At least the seller of the 100 Korona emailed yesterday with sending information on the coin.  I was a bit edgy because I bought it at about 80% of melt.

My guess is that the seller is not that far into the coin, probably had for a while, because he has been slowly selling off large sized gold coins on eBay accd to his feedback over the last few months.  He appears to have honoured every sale.

The last 10 days I bought coins at melt and by the time they arrived they were way below melt
Gold in euro is at an all time high and going higher
Exchange agents pay 4% over melt and sell 8% over melt

A professional seller let a TV crew film his safe
He had a few kilo bars gold left and 100 oz silver but no coins I could see
He said he had 200% of normal volume the last 10 days

Every single time I have bought that yellow stuff in the last 6 months, it has appreciated afterwards.  When my banks are shaky, and the government is buying them up, it is nice to know there is a nice fair weather harbour to park my funds.

:D I've noticed other auctions from Germany mistaking our nickels for silver, but a "gold plated edition" is a new one! lol.
I've sometimes taken the time to notify the seller of their mistake, only to be corrected back!  ::)

I search for cheap gold, but have to put in negs in the search string like -mini, -replica etc.  The amount of that garbage almost makes the search not worth the trouble.

Wow a professional vendor asking 1450 euro and putting fingergrease on the coin he is selling can you believe that ?
Answer from my friend the american coindealer
and several times over -- it's been cleaned quite a bit. he probably had to rub it on his nose to get that much grease on it -- he should have mixed in some sulfur -- at least the tone would be more accurate.

Aw man.  August, after peeking at that pretty Louis XIV coin, I wandered off into the depths of Ebay Frances, and found something I like. :(  My French is definitely not up to par, so I don't know if I will bid on the coin or not.  Of course, in four days, the coin may not be so reasonably priced, either.   Oh, and it isn't gold, either. ;)

Not satisfied money back
He takes two weeks of vacation and warns that payment received after 24 octobre will only be seen 3 novembre
I asked him what his shipment costs are to the US since he only quotes local
Payment is no problem because every mainland european has a BIC and IBAN number and transfer is free of cost
So you bid and if you win I will transfer him the money

BIC is bank identifier code
IBAN  is international bank account number

Rules . You have to live in the european union , you have to have a bankaccount in euro so british only comply if they open a euro account : under those circumstances all european transfers in euro only cost the same as a transfer in the country of origin which in my case is zero since I pay a fee per month of 2.5 euro whatever I do  .

only if I am not getting more then I give because in my ignorance I think I could get that for ten to fifteen dollars plus mail if I tried  ;D

I would not believe that those guys at the mint wear oxyen packs  ;D and the sulphur in the air would require controlled environment as well which I bet you they do not have . They probably do not even have a dust free environment .
I saw a mosquito between the glasses of the front window of a car a long time ago . I wonder what a mosquito would look like coming out of the coinpress  :)

EK,
That's a striking design! Great style--and very nice grade! :) I really like the idiosyncrasies of this period, such as that "1/12" and the hand-punched look to the lettering--the positioning wanders a bit.

Sir Auguste;

I have (hopefully) your coin in hand.  After browsing over the selection at my local store, I picked out an 2000S proof Sacagewea for you.  For only 3 extra dollars, it came with the rest of the 2000 US mint set.  I hope that is fine?  If it is, I'll post it out to you on Monday A.M.  If it isn't, I can crack the Sac out and post only that coin. ;)

I can also scan it for you if you wish to see it before posting. :)

Thanks!

I just read in my legal advisory lettre that ebay was condemned by a Paris commerce judge for ebay france selling fake Vuiton and parfume from daughter enterprises
The judge said that if you get money for fake you are not a platform but a broker and please that is 38.6 million euro fine
Ebay is going to appeal against the judge  :D :D :D

Wonderful...maybe they'll be forced to clean house?  :D  Here in the USA, I think we call that a "fencing operation".

Here's a story:
Years ago when I was more naive, I tried to buy a used Tag Heuer watch on eBay.
I made a bid, and shortly thereafter I discovered the watch was an Asian knockoff (obvious by small details).
I declined to pay, citing a forgery, and the seller actually threatened legal action.

So I took some legal action of my own, now armed with better knowledge of these watches.
I copied down all the seller's fake watch auction #s--and any others I found--and faxed them to Tag Heuer's legal counsel.
That made a big dent on eBay for a while--and it just took a few hours of my time.  ;D Why can't eBay do the same?  ::)

I won a 25 000 won coin from a professional seller for way below melt
He suddenly discovered after the auction was over that it was a mistake and he did not have the coin any longer
I saw from his feedback this was not the first mistake of the kind
So I gave him a resounding negative feedback

The effing vendor cannot give a revenge neg anymore on ebay germany but he went and reclaimed the posting cost and said both seller and vendor agreed not to have a deal  ???
So I told ebay in the most polite terms what happened appending the emails from the vendor .

After a week ebay sent me a 20 euro voucher saying they hoped I was not discouraged by the contretemps  ::)

I am very glad you got the coin and so superfast . I am also very happy you like it in hand cause pictures can go both ways better or worse.
Also I could not have mailed it from Belgium for that price . France and Austria have cheap posting rates compared to us.
Ferdeparis in now 14 days on vacation and he is liquidating his collection since he is retiring .
By the way your French is good . As good as his English.

For that coin, not a bad opening bid.  Currently the market for these coins is ridiculous - they and the 1/2 oz coins often sell for double melt.  I wanted to buy some, but I was hoping to find them when I was in UA last month - all I could find there were Swiss gold coins and bars.

It is quoted vendor will sell in germany only and at 4000 pieces it is not really rare
I have seen though that in general the germans like the Russian coins like the ones with the seal of Ivan

Beautifull coin but the vendor uses of course a promo pic
Nearly all the coins are damaged cause the Monnaie de Paris made the wrong holder and it is a curbed coin which swings round and round in the holder during the postal journey

I agree as all governments tend to SPEND far more than they ever take in. Must be pretty nice to have an unlimited bank account with NO chance of an overdraw. Just squeeze it out of the taxpayers! Still like to see that coin in silver and get it at a fair price. Wasn't too long ago we had to pay dearly to get coins literally smuggled out of the Soviet Union but now it seems to have eased up a bit but with that came higher prices. Go figure?

"Why back in my day, I......." Gawd, I hate that term! As I was saying, I remember getting the U S silver proof sets for $2.10 AND the guv'ment paid the postage. No, I don't know what silver was at that time but the silver content of the U S proof set was .622 oz. I then realized that the Canadian P L (they refer to the P L as 'Proof Like') set also had a silver dollar, unlike the U S set. Although the Canadian P L sets were 'only' 80% silver compared to the U S sets being 90%, the Canadian P L set contained 1.12 oz of silver. The sets sold for $4......33% more than the U S proof sets, BUT they contained 80% more silver! Needless to say, I purchased many and still have them.

It seems to me that according to Krause starting with the 2 escudos 1868 (68) they put a date between brackets
also the 1865 is stated 175 $ uncirculated and the 1868 (68) 1500 $ uncirculated

Far down the page for a 10 peseta 1878(62) Krause states that the date between brackets is a  1962 restrike from original dies
for 85 $ uncirculated. On the internet I found that 19 should be in the left star next to the date and 62 in the right star next to the date
making it clear that 1878 is a restrike from 1962

My confusion is what does it mean when the date between brackets is the same like 1868(68) and why would a restrike if it is one be 8.5 times more
expensive then an original form 1865
Krause gives no strike numbers so I do not know that mintage is part of the answer

The information on the stars came either from Friedberg or Schlumberger

Well, 1868 was the year that Spain started to use the dates on the star system (silver and gold), before that was like everywhere else, none of the coins minted before had the date on the stars (which was easier now that the Seville - 7 pointed star - and Barcelona - 8 pointed star - had stopped minting coins).
I.E.: The (68) coins are not restrikes, but the (62) are restrikes (very obvious because they weren't dates on the stars before 1868...)

...and the only spanish restrikes are the Alfonso XII gold coins.

The (62) restrikes are common but (61) restrikes are quite scarce!

Let me know if i couldn't explain clearly.

So 1868 (68)  means there is a date 1868 and 68 on the stars and it is an original and the only restrikes are 1961 and 1962 Alfonso XII coins ?

I sure hope 2009 brings a better selection of new releases around the world. There won"t be any cheap gold so I guess I have to hope for beautiful silver designs! ;D

Cheap is relative
It is our coldest winter in 10 years and I just had to replace my carbattery and paid 212 euro which is more then 300 US$
For that price I had the most wonderfull two coin set a few weeks back
I will have to try and photograph this because the scan does no justice to the 2 scudi and 1 scudo from San Marino ( identical coins except for size )
It is their rendition of Liberty ( Libertà )

And to think I about had a cow when I paid $85 for a battery last month. It was the best battery they had for my vehicle! It would have been cheaper for you to buy one over here and have it shipped!!! ;)

Oh but it would be shipping dangerous goods and only possible by boat like 50$  and then 18 % value added tax and 20% or so import tax and 15 $ collection fee and it would arrive in september when customs feel like working again cause the wharehouse is filled to the top
Nah I am used to paying 52% direct tax and 18% VAT at 300% mark up prices
I do not want to cheat the vendors out of a living  >:(

And to think that we will easily catch up to your taxation and fees in a few years.....a sobering thought.
