That is a stunning beauty of a coin. You are most fortunate to have that one.

I am rather fond of world crowns. I like the feel of the weight in my hand and they are large enough to truly show attention to detail. That is one of my favorite searches on Ebay.....World Crowns! I suppose that is why bullion coinage appeals to me as well. WEIGHT and design!

A beautiful coin! I try to collect crown-sized coins as well. Fiji has lots of interesting crown-sized coins that don't seem to be too expensive. Maybe I'll look for some at the next coin show. ;)

Crown-size coins do have a certain appeal. For one thing, when you hold it in your hand, it really feels like a "meaty hunk of metal", not like the lightweight aluminum and zinc coins around these days.
For another, their size allows for some beautiful designs. I have a 1973 Bahamian Independence Proof, that is a whopping 50mm diameter, and weighs just under an ounce and a half of fine sterling. The details are stunning.

When it comes to modern day coinage Austria gets a strong hand of approval for detailed designs. Simply amazing and even more so when you look through a magnifying glass. Very impressed by their silver commemoratives. My 1992 Royal Ladies by the Australian mint is also an impressive work of art and the medallion minted with the set is simply stunning.
