I just picked up 2 new collecting books, entitles Ancient Coin Collecting II and III, by Wayne G. Sayles. Volume II deals with Ancient Greek coins from the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Biographical data, as well as beautiful example photographs.

Volume III, the Roman World with a vast amount of information and pictures of some beautiful coins, along with a history of each emperor and their significant others.

Each book cost me $30.00 each, and were welll worth the price tag.
I highly recommend them for anyone with an ancient passion.

Absolutely, I don't have these two volumes in the series, but I do have volumes IV (Roman provincial) and VI (Non-classical cultures).

I highly recommend the whole "Ancient Coin Collecting" series to anyone interested in ancients. If you're starting to get involved and wondering in what area to specialize, or even whether or not you want to specialize at all, these books give an excellent overview of "what's out there".

I keep saying that to myself, but I feel that the presence of the "force" is rather strong.  :D  (Thanks to Fred)

Actually if you knew how ADHD I was with my collecting habits, you might sympathize.  Look at my website, and you will get a tastes, but only that, there is much much more that is not linked etc.  In the next months I endeavour to part with much and focus in on the Scottish.  The Black Sea stuff and maybe Syracuse will stay, but aside from Scotland and 17th Tokens all else is subject to outsourcing.  Besides I have my sites set on some right rare and desirous Scottish material and need to fund such venture.
