Egypt 10 Piastres 1970
December 14, 2007, 02:27:42 PM

An FAO issue, 10 Piastres Uncirculated.  This coin really has lovely pink and blue tones to it. Photography doesn't ever do justice to toning. :(

Do add this coin to my collection?

I am indeed somewhat interested.  Ancient Egypt is one of my favourite things to read about, and it just makes me sad that the ancients didn't use coins.  Best I can do is get the Roman provincials issued in Egypt, and I don't have any of those yet at all.  The oldest I think I have is Ottoman, a quirsh coin.  I'm almost sure that I've got it photographed on my Coin Community Photo Gallery, and if it isn't there I'm dead certain I've got it on Omnicoin.com.  I'd provide the link but I'm on a laptop that hasn't got the greatest of connections.

I really like coins like this one, that feature the fantastic ancient culture of your country. :)

Do add this coin to my collection?

Hi Tracey.
Your scope of interest in world coins leaves me feeling a little inadequate.
I have trouble seeing beyond the shores of oz.
I feel that I have a lot to learn and understand about Numismatics.
Happy new Year.
regards,

Happy New Year to you too, Muckeye.  :)

Thank you.  I am very interested in world numismatics as well as world history, and the two go hand in hand very well.  There is no inadequacy involved when it concerns the matter of interest.  Some people have broad interests and some people are able to narrow it down.  Believe me, it's better to narrow it down when you're on a budget!

And as for learning and understanding, there's always more to learn.  I feel the same not-quite-envy every time others post up pictures of their coins too.  :)
