1821 St. Helena: found Die Cracks!!!

I know I posted this coin up previously, but I was perusing the same photos I posted here and something caught my eye. A little line going into the "L" in St. Helena, which I thought was just a bit of schmutz on the coin. I threw it under the QX5, and whoa, not schmutz at all, and not just one. Die Cracks!!!

    Actually there are 3 seperate cracks. As one collector put it, it turned an ordinary coin into something special. To think I've had this coin for a year, and just noticed the cracks last night.

Fred, sometimes we collectors of World Coins get so involved in quantity, we don't realise the hidden quality right beneath our very noses.   Some might think that's a bad thing, but it's always a pleasure to discover a new coin already in your collection.

Nice discovery and nice coin.
One should have 'big-heart' to appreciate the coins of other countries, also.  You have that.
You are also correct, we, many times, do not study our coins.

Nice, I also get a kick out of die cracks and other curiosites such as filled dies, dies chips and such. They make ordinary coins special in their own little way.

    I know what you mean, although I am not a "quantity" kind of guy, other then buying a coin, which may not be in the greatest shape, becuse I need that country (i.e. my 1922 Martinique). The coin is really worn, but I bought it anyway, because with it's rarity, I may not see another.
