Your Favorite "Knightly" Coin
May 16, 2017, 05:43:13 AM
In anticipation of our new 2017 KOTCT medal design, what coins do you have with a "Knightly" image ? Here is one of my favorites with a great 1935 Art Deco reverse for Saint George, his trusty steed, and the dragon too ....

The 1946 "John the Blind" commemorative from Luxembourg is quite 'Knightly" as well...

Knights are pretty common on Lithuanian coins.

Nancy, I was thinking of posting one of those too.
I didn't have time this morning though.
Have to find another one now.

Not a great pic.
This is a 1951 Crown from Great Britain.

A 'knightly" example indeed is this 1977 Commemorative 100 schilling from Austria...

Call me old-school, but I prefer coins made by knights, for knights, with "real knights" depicted on them.

A favourite has got to be the silver deniers of the "crusader state" Principality of Antioch, depicting the knight-prince Bohemund IV in chain-mail armour with the classic crusader nose-guard helmet:

Gibraltar 1992 Two Pounds! One of my favorites! Different versions in the KOTCT Pet Set and I like them all.
