The German Finance Minstry has just recently published its version of a ''currency determination.'' It contained a nice surprised. Here are the number of coins ordered by the FM for Germany for 2017:
1 Cent: 398.000.000
2 Cent: 336.000.000
5 Cent: 140.000.000
10 Cent: 116.000.000
20 Cent: 108.000.000
50 Cent: 0
1 Euro: 0
2 Euro: 61.000.000
2 Euro "Rheinland-Pfalz" (part of the €2 state series): 30.000.000
All five German mints will be minting the coins according to this allocation which is used for circulation coinage* for more than a decade now:
A: 20%
D: 21%
F: 24%
G:14%
J: 21%
Thus far, only one German €2 CC.
Particularly interesting for type collectors: It's the first time since 2004 (!) that the 10 Cent denomination has been ordered. The 2017 10c will have the ''new'' obverse (Europe shown as one continent, used since 2007). The old obverse (used 1999-2006) has the Euro countries separated.
*: some early €2 CC are the exception to the rule
