I just reactivated my film viewing program often finding
films I missed
Yesterday I viewed The Notebook
and it is a silly title but the film was better then Love Story

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332280/combined

Anybody see it or good movies ?

Last good movie I saw was Hunger games.
There doesn't seem  to many decent movies.
Zombies and vampires are getting  a bit trite.
There is a short film  on youtube somewhere based
on Kurt Vonnegut's short story  Harrison Bergeron.
It's pretty good.

PYW, The Notebook is my wife's favorite movie.  It sets a tough standard to set up something romantic for her.

Longnine, that was a cool little short film. Sometimes it seems like we are going that route here in the US.

One of my favorite movies of all time is "The Prestige" with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. It's a very well thought out movie with some awesome twists.

Movies? I think I've seen 3 in the last 20 yrs due to the un-appropriate language used in all movies. I'm not a purist, but why use it? Imagine all of the coins I've purchased by not going to disgusting  languaged movies....many!

Goose, I guess those movies are only reflecting real life.
I don't go to movies either, I just catch up with them when
they come on TV for free.

We would call The Notebook a Melodrama
It is sad and beautifully romantic at the same time

I've seen all the episodes of Downton that have aired so far.  Don't know when the next lot will start though.

Currently watching a series called 'Reign', set in the 1550's, so far it's been about 'Mary, Queen of Scots'.

I have never seen a single episode of Downtown Abbey but I have been to the castle that is used for filming of the series.

http://www.highclerecastle.co.uk/

The most interest part of visiting the castle is seeing the small Egyptian Exhibition that they have since the Castle was the seat, 100 years ago, of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, who famously discovered the Tomb of the Egyptian Boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, in 1922 with his archaeological colleague, Howard Carter.

I have also attended a Battle Proms concert at the Castle.

WE HAVE CABLE BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE MUCH CHOICE---OF COURSE WHEN YOU SIGN UP YOU GET OVER 250+ STATIONS AND THEY OFFER EVERY SHOW FROM THE 1950'S TO PRESENT DATE-----OF ALL THE CHOICES I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH ABOUT 2 SPORTS CHANNELS AND ANOTHER 6-----BUT GIVING THE PUBLIC WOULD BE GROSSLY UNFAIR  ?????????????????????????????????/

About everybody in Belgium has cable because otherwise you can only get the state TV stations

Cable gives you HD TV and about 30 stations with adds every 20 - 30 minutes but by law
grouped in 5 minutes blocks .

Filmnet is an add free facility with round the clock films ( one year old ) and older films
and series and lots of sport channels and music channels

I viewed a very nice 2009 The young Victoria ( did not know she married the nephew of the
Belgian king )
I also viewed Sin City extended cut ( based on a strip I never saw )

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS CABLE IN MICHIGAN BECAUSE YOU NEED IT TO GET THE LOCAL STATIONS.............WE HAVE SOME PAY FOR VIEW CHANNELS FOR CERTAIN SPORTS EVENTS--MOVIES--CONCERTS.........BUT I NEVER USE THEM
WE HAVE A COUPLE OF VERY GOOD CHANNELS THAT CARRY OLD MOVIES AND WE GET PUBLIC BROADCAST STATIONS WHICH CARRY A LOT OD BRITISH SHOWS.....
I GET CABLE---TELEPHONE--COMPUTER AND WIFI FROM THE SAME COMPANY AND THE SERVICE IS VERY GOOD......IT RUNS US ABOUT $150 A MONTH..........

I do not have PAYTV as I do not think it is worth it.   I can get any movies I want and watch most shows on free TV.

Must admit I do watch Downton Abbey on TV and download Game of Thrones and watch that as well.

Most new movies do not interest me but I do have a collection of old movies on DVD and watch them when I want.

We nearly have a new government without the socialists and they are
serious about working untill 65
Due to all exceptions granted by the socialists ( like bridge pension from 52 on at the closing
of a Ford factory etc ) the real average pension start is 59
and nobody wants to work till 60 even
