Being a collector living outside of the US does present challenges.
As Erik nows, the US Mint does not ship to all countries.
You will be charged $14.95 plus a $2.95 handling fee per item for the United States Mint's International Shipping option. There will be an additional shipping and handling charge for oversized products, i.e., bags of 500 or 1000 coins.
Packages shipped using the United States Mint's International Shipping option usually arrive within 1 to 2 weeks.
You may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are not reflected in our prices. Duties and taxes are levied by your country or other overseas authority once a shipment reaches your country.
You may also be required to pay additional charges for customs clearance. You should contact your local customs office for further information on applicable duties, taxes, restrictions, and fees.
In the UK for example, the value of item for customs/duty is based on the cost of the item plus the postage costs as well as a fee imposed for customs clearance.
They are supposed to calculate the value by changing US dollars to UK pounds, but I have had one case where they failed to do that and just took the dollar value straight as UK pounds (pound is worth today around $1.63).
On top of all this, is that you need to pay the US Mint in dollars and the credit card folks do not offer the best exchange rates.
