Bad week
August 27, 2013, 02:30:26 AM
Had a bad week. My dad got bitten by a copper-head Sunday. Because of his age (85) and other health problem's, (bad heart, block lung) he gave us a good scar.  Luckily there was a Doctor from Texas in the E.R. who had dealt a lot with snake bit and knew what to do.  It looked like he might lose some fingers but now I think he will be fine. They moved him out of the I.C.U. last night and might send him home in a few days. Snakes and wild animals are just a fact of life around here in the mountains and I was just wondering how many other Knights live out with wild life? And before you say it Joe, Nighthawk is not considered wild life.  ;D  ;D

Wow, a copper head? That's scary. I'm glad you dad is ok.  We have them here in Missouri. Cotton mouths too. There aren't a whole lot of them in the part of the state I live in though. They're a lot more common a little further south.
There is definitely plenty of wild life here. I came about 2 inches from running over a fox sunday night.
Normally I enjoy the wildlife. But there can be a downside to it too, poisonous snakes being one of them.

Nothin' like that around here in the 'burbs except for bunny rabbits, coons, possum, hawks, an occasional heron or crane because we have a few small lakes around within a few miles, but snakes are never an issue. Glad to here your father is doing OK   :)

Pocketcoins, I'm glad your Dad is OK.
I live close to a lake, so I'm sure we have snakes not too far away, but I have never seen one.
Redback spiders are a bigger problem, but not as harmful.

Thanks everyone.  8)
There is no cure for the wild preadolescents, but I think they are going to open a hunting season on the teenagers soon. We are getting over populated with them.  ;D

Over populated with them? Hmmm, I wonder what caused that.
