Violence in Egypt.
August 16, 2013, 08:09:06 PM
I hope Amr and his family are OK.
Amr, if you see this, maybe you can give us an insight to what is happening
and what it is all about. We hear about it on the news, but I would like an inside perspective.

I also see the mobs in Egypt on T V. In the past, I've observed mobs on T V all over the world creating havoc. I've always wondered.....don't these people have anything better to do than riot with the possibility of being killed? Why aren't they working, at home taking care of their families, or just going about with their everyday life?

Of all times my brother is on vacation in Egypt together with 2000 other belgians
At the five star hotel resorts the only thing one sees is that there are as many waiters
as there are guests and all visits to monuments are cancelled
Only travel to and from the airport seems safe

Belgium issued a no visit advice and touroperators are refunding money or rebooking to Turkey or
elsewhere
Going to be a bad economic year for Egypt

On the other hand the all wise obamarama showed his displeasure with egypt and now the russians
have offered all assistance to the egyptian military

Current european thinking is that the moslim brotherhood does not have enough support
to turn this into a real civil war against the coptian christians

Where I am going I ain't certain
Where I am going I don't know
All I know is that I'am on my way

Hello my friends
Thank God, i am well and all my family and friends are :)

Well, it is a long story to tell but will try to summarize it for who is interested.
First of all i dont know if any or all of you know that i am a Muslim..... what has this to do with this subject?!.....is that what i will say about the Muslim brotherhood might implies that i am against them because i am Christian or Jew ...etc

I think you all saw the Egyptian revolution and how we ended a 30 years of dictatorship by "Mubarek" and after that we did our first elections where the finals were between one of the old regimen and one of the Muslim brotherhood. So the Egyptians out of fear that the old regimen would come back but with a different face had no choice but to elect the muslim brotherhood man. The former president "Morsi".

For the last year, Morsi have neglected all our demands and denied all his promises. He has made many constitutional violations that ended up by having all the power again in the presidents hands .... so we woke up one morning with a new dictator but this time his loyalty is for the muslim brotherhood only and not for Egypt.

He allowed the Palestinian terrorists belonging to "Hamas" to settle in Sinai as well as many of "Al Qaeda" terrorist to come to Egypt. He set free the terrorists responsible for assassinating our former president "Anwar El-Sadat" and those responsible for killing the tourists in "Luxor Massacre"  in the 1990's and even honored some of them.

He was responsible for bloody clashes between the civilians either through his passivity or through his speeches that were mainly directed to the Muslim brotherhood. (He always started his speeches by saying "My brothers and my tribe" as if there were no other Egyptians except the Muslim brotherhood) .... by the way they are only about 350,000!!

He has embarrassed Egypt in all of his travels and meeting with the presidents of other countries either by his poor English language and/or his ignorance of protocol and bad conduct .... (Which has never occurred through our history to have such a president)

Many and many other illegalities and shameless behaviors that led us to start protesting again asking for early presidential elections as we saw that in one year our economy, national security as well as our picture all over the world are very critical.

He refused and the Muslim brotherhood started to march protesters to say that we still want him to complete the 4 years

Our Army saw that what is happening in Egypt will end up into a civil war and has warned the president and the government more than once .... so the army gave a period of a month for all the political sides to sit with each other and reach a solution for what is happening to prevent a civil war but the president and his government refused. So the army gave a week period and they refused then 48 hours. The president said that he will make a speech and in it he refused to make an early presidential elections but he did the most crazy thing ever which was that he ordered the muslim brotherhood to fight for him even if it costs them their blood and souls !!!!!!

As a result the Egyptians went in millions to the street protesting and announcing that they no longer want this guy an his tribe to rule Egypt.... a second revolution  :) ....Our army represented in Defense minster, The Azhar Sheikh (Like the pope but to muslims), The Egyptian Pope and many respectable persons appeared on the National TV and declared that in response to the irresponsible actions of the president and for the sake of Egypt and to prevent a civil war ..... The false constitution of the muslim brotherhood was stopped, The Parliament was stopped and an early presidential elections will be made.

The muslim brotherhood and their terrorist went down the streets and occupied two squares in Cairo and Giza (The capital and the second biggest city in Egypt) and declared that they have started a war against the army and the Egyptian people !!!! these were their exact words !!!

For more than a month and a half they occupied the two squares preventing any one to come near or to pass through and from above a stage they built in each square they started every day to declare war and that they are ready to die for the former president.
Heavy military weapons were seen and captured on video many times entering these squares. Many incidence of people being kidnapped by them inside these sit-ins.... some were tortured and some were even killed on the excuse that they were spies !!!!!

(Please tell me where in the world could a country bare such acts for such a long period.... i just want each of you to think what type of actions would your national guard, army or police take if this has happened in any of your countries)

Out of respect to the muslims holy month "Ramadan", The police didnt take any action and gave them a last warning till after the end of the holy month and the end of the muslims feast "Eid"

Many countries were asked to try to convince the muslim brotherhood to disengage these sit-in but without any success, so after the end of the holy month, the orders by the prime minister were given to the police that these occupation has to be disengaged and the procedure must be filmed life on national TV to avoid any claims that the police used unneeded force and this is what happened last Wednesday.

In response to that, the muslim brotherhood started a terrorists war they started burning many police stations, shooting from automatic guns at people, burning many churches to try to make a religious war between Christians and Muslims ...... they used all these actions to try to convince the world that what happened in Egypt was a military coup and that the army is killing the Egyptian people and that the army cannot protect the Egyptian Christians so trying to make an international interference in Egypt.

Now the army and the police are trying to catch their leaders and to prevent them from causing more damage.

Its 3:30 am .... so i will have to go to sleep .... there is still a lot of details that i will try to write tomorrow

Till tomorrow my friends

Stay safe

Your Egyptian friend

Thanks for your explanations Amr. I still don't understand completely what is going on there, but you've given us a better idea than the American media has. Most importantly, I'm glad that you and your family are safe.

I'm glade you and your family are safe. And it's good to here from someone who is there. The news media always tells things the way they want people to believe.
