Good ol' Tom Edison. Niue put out a 2005 $1 coin commemorating T E's invention of the light bulb. If one presses the Edison head on the obverse, a little itty-bitty light bulb on the reverse lights. Now if Niue, an island country of only 100 sq miles (260 sq km) and a population of only 3000 can put out a coin with a battery AND light bulb incased, why does the U S mint the same old coins yr after yr with no inginuity? Oh, the reverse is changed on the quarter now and then, but really NEW designs? Oh well, I'll continue to purchase foreign coins as most of them have animals, flowers, and ships on them. (I purchased a few unc rolls of the N Z 50 cent coin from a bank ($10 ea...hot at a coin store)....an intriguing ship, the Endeavour.)

Only trouble is, Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb.
This bloke did.....

He died in the same town that I lived in, in England (not at the same time).  :)
