I signed up for paypal to make buying and selling online easier. And to make it possible for me to do transactions with my friends in other countries. Now how do I tell them to pay me. Say someone wants to send me 5 dollars. What info do they need? Just me email address, or what? Siging up was really easy, but they didn't really explain anything, lol.
Thanks.

As a general rule, your Paypal address is the same as your email address unless you specified a different one. These are the steps to send money:

1. log onto your Paypal A/C
2. choose send money
3. enter the destination Paypal address
4. enter amount
5. choose the currency (eg.US$)
6. click on the personal tab
7. make sure the "gift" button is selected, (this means the sender pays the Paypal fee)
8. click on continue,
9. click send money.    DONE!

After you've done it a few times, it only takes about 30 seconds or so, depending on how fast Paypal is responding.

For someone else to send you money, all they need is your Paypal address.  Unless you are prepared to pay the fee yourself, it's a good idea to tell them to send it as a 'gift'.

Thanks very much Nancy. I guess my email address IS my paypal address, because I didn't specify anything different.

Hi Adam,

And to make it possible for me to do transactions with my friends in other countries. Now how do I tell them to pay me.

its very important to make sure that paypal deals with their country.  :)

One of my major problems is that paypal has nothing to do with Egypt, so simply i have never purchased anything from ebay because most of the sellers set paypal as their payment option.  :(

Amr :) :) :)

It is even worse.
A french seller told me last month it was either put paypal as an option or no selling on ebay
I paid by paypal for the protection clause and he did not have paypal
So he came whining to me after reading the costs AFTER selling the coin
I paid him 6 euro extra to cover his costs and told him either to stop selling on ebay or to get used to it
I felt guilty cause I could have made a banktransfer as easily

Where I am going I ain't certain
Where I am going I don't know
All I know is that I'am on my way

Another question. say my paypal balance is 20 dollars, and I pay for somethingu using paypal. Will they take it out of my paypal balance, or my bank account?

They will ALWAYS use any PayPal balance on hand FIRST. If the payment exceeds that amount they will then draw the funds out of the account or credit card you have provided.

Sorry I was so slow getting into this thread. If you wish to experiment with your new account feel free to send ALL your money to my email address through PayPal. I will let you know if it arrives safely! ;D

We can work that out, you could send coins or other articles depending on the amount sent thru PayPal.

I wouldn't use your listed checking account for payments. Use a credit card so you can have another avenue of dispute if necessary then pay the credit card off early to avoid % rate charges. Payments usually default to Ebay credit card, I always have to find the small print link that says 'other payment options' to change to another credit card.
