Several people asked about our recent trip, so I wrote a short summary.
I felt some forum members might be interested, so the summary follows.
Family and Other Friends,
We returned from our road trip last Monday. It covered 6,100 miles and took us through a dozen states and numerous cities large and small.
The changing colors were beautiful in all states, especially Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We spent a week in Maine, enjoying the colors, the sea food, the lighthouses, and the Atlantic Ocean. For me, the most spectacular natural wonder we saw was Niagara Falls. Truly awesome. The most spectacular man-made things were the monuments in Washington, D.C.
Other things of interest on the trip was our visit to an Amish area, visiting the Lincoln Library in Springfield, Illinois, seeing Lake Michigan and the Sears Tower, driving around and over Lake Champlain, and driving through, and around, some of the country’s largest cities: Cleveland, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Topeka, and others.
I belong to a coin forum, and while in Indiana we were able to meet two “friends†who we had only known through the internet. They proved to be very friendly and interesting to visit with.
Pat did all the driving due to my poor eyesight, and daughter Michelle, back in Colorado, worked out good hotel deals for us every evening.
We left at the end of September, and were gone nearly a month. Good to be home.
Gary
