Secret Something to Celebrate our Anniversary
September 01, 2009, 09:20:57 AM
How would everyone feel about a "Secret Gift Exchange" to celebrate our 2nd Birthday?  ???

Just like a Secret Santa, but it'll happen in Late September - early October. We'll have to get moving on it fairly quickly so that all exchanges are done in time.   ;D

Let me know if you'd like to participate and if there's enough willing Knight/s/esses, we can get it underway ASAP.  :P

I'll co-ordinate it unless someone else specifically wants to do it.   ;)

Samuel, how it works is that anyone who wants to participate will sign up. Then since Nancy has volunteered to organize it, she will privately send each person the address of another participant. And then we will all send coin related gifts to the person she selected for us. For fun, we usually try to keep our identities secret so the person doesn't know who their gift came from, but it doesn't always work out that way  :D So everyone who participates ends up getting a gift. We generally are given a price range for the gift. Something along the lines of 10-20 dollars in values I beleive it was last time I participated. Its alot of fun.

I think everyone who participates sending a coin to Nancy is an excellent idea!  However, for those of us in the US, perhaps we should send the coins to one person who can then hire the turtle to swim it down under.  I can volunteer for that, I think.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Nancy, any number of entrants would work, not necessarily an even number. Even if there were only 1, that person could go to a coin store and buy a coin for him/her self. Also, postage would be saved.

Goose,  You are right of course, I realised after I had shut down the PC for the morning that any number will work, but in the previous 'Secret' exchanges, the organiser has usually opted out, and that's fine with me.   ;D

It's not necessary for anyone to send me anything.

All Secret Recipients details have been sent to their relevant Secret Senders.  ;D

Don't forget to let us know when your Secret Something arrives.   ::)

I don't know the exact date of our Castle's anniversary, but I believe it's about 3 Oct 07 or 4 Oct 07.   ???

If you could time the posting of your Secret Gift to arrive somewhere about one of those dates, that would be great!   ;)

Mail to Oz seems to take about 7 days, going to the US from OZ is usually 5-7 days.   :-*

One HUGE thankyou to my 'secret sender'! I received my gift today (and I am excited!) -
a beautiful 1967 Canadian 80% silver dollar (Commemorative for the Centennial of Confederation),
            a 2000 P Sacagawea $1, and

If I didn't know better, I'd say you had been checking out my collection, because each of these items fit perfectly.

Thankyou again!

I have mine all ready to go, packaged, wrapped, addressed, and I can't get to the stinkin'  post office for postage! Arrg.  I shall endeavour to send my hubby out ASAP!  It will ship. I swear on my honour as a Knight.

Do add this coin to my collection?

I have had mine wrapped for about a week and only just got around to posting it today.
So if someone in the U.S. doesn't get theirs on time, just hang in there for a few more days. Sorry.

I will be mailing my something South first thing in the morning. My computer had a stroke and I have been out of contact for 10 and 1/2 days not that anyone was counting. I had no way to retrieve my address or let Nancy know what was going on. I have no idle how long it will take for a package to get down South but it will most sure be on it's way first thing in the morning.

My coins arrived today too!  Someone out there knows me well. :D  They sent a rolled Aussie penny from 1913, from the World Expo in 1988, a 20 Dinar coin from Algeria with a Lion on it (which I didn't have for my Kitty collection, awesome!) and a beautiful UNC Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Canberra mint mark.

Thank you SO much!  I don't recognise the address either, so I don't know who you are.  Thank you again!

My not-so-secret SOMEONE'S gift arrived today.
An astonishing array of coins & etc..
A US dollar star note. A Hobo nickel. An 1808 Cash treasure coin from a ship wreck. and others.
And a mounted Knight in armour to guard my computer.
I should have done it all in capitals Joe but I didn't have the courage.

It's hard not to know who sent it when there is a two page letter in the package.

THANK YOU TEMPLAR.

Mine was mailed out last week before I left for Mexico. It should only take a few days as it was sent priority. Hopefully the recipient will enjoy it.  I am sorry but I will not know or be able to post when my gift arrives as I am not at home. My wife just stores my mail in a big trash can until I get home to sort through it.

Yes sir I have really enjoyed it. But I'm starting to get worried the coin I sent has not arrived yet. If I don't find out something in the next few days I will be sending something else. But I was a little slow getting my coin out so maybe it will get there.

Don't rush to quickly to send out a replacement. Sometimes our delivery turtles run into unexpected delays. Give it some time.

Another thing to take into consideration is when Post Office Box Nos are used, the recipient MAY not always clear their Box every day, so it's possible it has been delivered.  8)

Adam,
I am glad that you enjoy what you get.
I was confused and hesitate to answer you since it was suppose to be secret.
What grade you think that coin was? AU or UNC or lower? I just want to learn to compare using actual coin.
