I didn't have an opportunity to tell everyone this before so I'm going to tell you now...
The software authors issued a security update to fend off worm viruses and temporarily deactivating the [URL] function was unfortunately the main Bulletin Board Code that needed this de-activation. So, the authors said that once code was written disallowing these viruses from using the BBC, then and only then will they issue a permanent patch to reactivate.
Now, I have the ability to override their update but, we would be sitting ducks if an attack occurred.
So, is this something everyone wants me to do, or can we wait for the Guru's to pound out some security code? The choice is up to all the members. I can change the function in less than a minute. I can rebuild the entire site database in about two days. The only thing is all data would be lost. Posts, layout, member profiles - the whole works. It would truley be at ground zero for the site.
Let me know what you decide.
