Here is a coin from Venezuela. Is Bolivar a denomination?

1st coin is a Japanese 5 Yen coin, I cannot read the year as it is upside down, for some reason the 5 Yen coin uses traditional characters for the date and denomination instead of western numerals.

The second coin, yes, the Bolivar is the name of the denomination, named after Simon Bolivar.  Venezuela is now the "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela".

"Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela"

There's a difference.

The "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" has been the full official title since the adoption of the new Constitution of 1999, when the state was renamed in honor of Simón Bolívar.

The Japanese coin is from Year 37 of the Showa Emperor, Hirohito - which translates to 1962 AD.

I'm glade to find this site. I hope it helps me with my Japanese coins. Always before I just had to ask someone on one of the forums and hope they knew what they were talking about.  :) But to be fair I have had really good luck this way. Most people are willing to help.  :)
