My first introduction with coin collecting was metal detecting with my dad which started when I was about 8 years old.  We never did find "the big stash" but we certainly paid for the metal detector 3 times over and filled some holes in my Buffalo, What. and Mercury collections.  I think the best part was just spengin time with my dad after he came home from work.

However, we did take it down to Grand Cayman one time and man, did we do well on the beaches!  (Again, all coin, no jewelry).

I like the photo with everything laid out and the pulltabs  ::)

I'll pass on clad if gold is the offing too :o

Detecting is addictive, particularly like when I found a 1917 cent in one of my first finds in my backyard.

Zincolns dont do well in the ground especially if the soil is acidic the zinc just rots away.

Been quite a few years since I held a metal detector. Almost bought a good one last summer and backed off. So Nohope you are killing me!!!! ;D Who knows, I may have to take that plunge again now that technology has advanced so much and I do like it outdoors!
