Went back to the soccer fields we visited on Sunday. This time we completed removing all the metal from one side of 1 of 6 fields. That leaves 11 sides left to search.

I believe the Horseshoe Casinos are Nevada casinos.  Are there casinos in TX now?  When I lived there we had to drive over to Lake Charles in Lowsyanna.

I think you are right. I seem to remember hearing or Horseshoe Casinos in Nevada.
Nohope, does it get frustrating digging all those pull tabs?

Nice you found some silver, and Interesting there's a Blackberry battery and some kind of memory card.
And you're doing a public service by getting those pop tabs off the field--less for kids to get injured on. 

If you lived around here, I could point you to where I've seen logging/mining era cabins, I've even found some black powder bullets--without a detector.

I have an entry level machine a Garrett Ace 250. Its cheap and easy to use and seems to do a great Job. Has paid for itself almost four times over in just clad.

The only complaint I have with my detector is that Nickles and Pull tabs sound the same and both register the same on the meter. But with the price of Aluminum I save all of them so maybe one day I will have enough to make it worth while taking to the scrap dealer.

My number one rule is if I dig it I take it sometimes all I find are nails and canslaw but not only does it make the area safer it also makes it easier to search the next time round.
I would love to search some old logging cabins. Perhaps my next road trip I can make a detour to your area....

Latman, you won't regret it. Because I collected coins, the kids gave me a modest detector for Christmas, 1990. I've been at it ever since with 2 upgrades in the 18 yrs.  It's rare, but I've found a few neat U S coins.....1924-D cent, 1878 I H cent, and an 1886 V (Liberty Head) nickel. No gold coins or silver dollars yet, but I'm working on it.
