Trading News--discussion
August 30, 2008, 07:52:25 AM
Hi,
Since our group seems so into trading, I have an idea.  :)
What if we started a thread devoted to trades in progress?
That way, trading partners can check the status of their trades, note possible issues, and respond when they received their coins?
It would also be a good way to foster accountability and establish reputation amongst collectors here, as everyone can see how trades progress.

What do you think? Too complicated?

As an example, I'll list my trades in progress (from memory):
Erik (actually gift, no trade expected): Australia 1956 1d and 1921 1/2d
DL20K: Arizona and New Mexico state quarters, token, and nice die break Lincoln cent. (update: received)
LordPercy: Arizona, New Mexico state quarters, Lincoln cents from the teens, and modern die break Lincoln cent.
ElleKitty: Since you like green stones, I went ahead and sent you an emerald. My lab results here show a 0.3 carat, natural stone probably from Africa. I'll be interested to hear how you like it, and we'll then work out a trade.  :)

Thank you
to:
Humpybong for the nice Australia Scout Dollar and those two interesting predecimal error coins.  ;D

I like the idea! Such a thread could also give us all a better idea of what each member looks for in trades and what they have to offer.

think this issue has already been covered with the KOTCT Trader System
OldDan, I've looked into that in more detail and it looks very informative--thank you for calling my attention.  :)   I'm not suggesting anyone take up a new system here. I just want to provide a note of progress and think I will maintain this thread for my future trades. Thanks!  :)

Another good idea!  ;D

However.. The coins-for-trade list is one thing, the feedback signifies completed trade, sure - but where is the detailed information on what stage the trade is at? It will be here.

For this thread to be clear though, one would have to delete all the unnecessary posts, including this one, and leave only 1 post per person with the trade details, which would be updated (modified).

Pawel, that's a very good point!!  :)
We can leave this thread for discussion on this topic, and build a separate thread for only trade progress details.

Thank you, Kurt :) Yes, this one could be used to fine-tune the idea (I'd suggest changing the name of this thread by adding "discussion" or something similar), while the trade details would be posted elsewhere.

There, we'd have to write the rule ("one post per person") at the top so that future Knights abide by it.

OldDan makes good points.

As a suggestion, you might ask TKO to build whatever you need.  He's the expert.

 :) :) :) :)

Thanks...I realize I need to be better acquainted with things here before I suggest stuff.  :)
Of course, I may still post things...I enjoy knowing what people are trading; it's a way to see other collector's interests.

Why engage TKO, if one simple thread costing nobody any work, would be enough?
I personally do not support the idea of bothering other people with things that can be realised in a different way which requires minimal efort.
