Albania

Digging about, I came across some lovely Albanian coins I wanted to share.  The first two are from Italian Occupied Albania during WWII, the third coin is just after and is one really lovely coin for being made of zinc.

1939 1 Lek coin, Rome mint.

1940 0.10 Lek coin, Rome mint.

An almost UNC zinc coin, 1949 1/2 Lek.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Very nice Miss Kitty.

I like the 1939 1 Lek coin from Italian Occupied Albania.

We must collect these (and Nazi Germany) coins so that future generations understand what happended in WWII.

What strikes me about the 1 Lek is how forceful it looks. The helmet on the portrait of Emmanuel III is sure a bizarre touch. I see that Italy produced one coin with a helmeted portrait--a gold 20 Lire in '28.

Nice - especially the communist one. Finding communist Albanian paper money is easy; their coins are somewhat harder. I don't have any.  :'(
