I appreciate everybody's input.
Some of the posts really make me feel fortunate I have such a good, friendly coin dealer.
I have only been into large coin stores twice -- once in Colorado Springs, and another time while visiting our daughter in Florida years ago.
At the Florida shop, you had to buzz to be let in, and then the management acted as though I was wasting their valuable time.
At Hallenbeck's in Colorado Springs, I was treated much beter.
However, at my coin shop (International Coin) in Grand Junction (Colorado), I don't have to ring a buzzer to get in, and I'm allowed to inspect coins and paper worth thousands, without someone looking over my shoulder. As long as that shop exists, that's where I'll buy a great majority of my coins.
I will try and visit one or two of the huge stores in New York City, just to say I had the experience.
