Bad News Today :(..
June 28, 2008, 08:35:43 AM
One of my long lost Nigerian relatives died, it has been awhile since that has happened.  They appear to have left me a bundle of money - AGAIN!

As noted, I have not lost a Nigerian relative in quite awhile - I was beginning to worry. ;D

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your Relative, SM.  I know that scientists say that the human race migrated out of Africa tens of thousands of years ago, but I had no idea that they'd kept a genealogy for so long!

It always amazes me that those Nigerians have so much money hidden away, at that. One would think that in a poor country like Nigeria, there would be a lot less millionaires related to European-Americans.

Do add this coin to my collection?

I never knew I had relatives in Nigeria, all this while, I thought my ancestors from Scotland, Ireland, etc.  Who knew?

Y'know, I'm starting to feel very left out of things lately.  :(

I've never been notified of any relatives in Nigeria who have died & left me oodles of money.  :'(

Where are all my Nigerian rellies?  Are they all going to outlive me?  Shucks, you can't even rely on non-existant rellies to die before you.  ::)

What I can't understand is how many so called intelligent people fall for these scams.  ???  :o  ::)  :o

My commiserations to you SM.  ;D

I keep telling my bank that a secret Nigerian relative has left me a lot of money in a secret bank account and that they must find it for me but all they ever do is call the police.

I, myself, have lost quite a few Nigerian relatives I did not know I had and they were all filthy rich as well! Of course, over the last year, I have been picked numerous times (out of the phone book I guess) to help donate monies to charities all over the world or to work as a payment clerk for foreign businesses who wish for me to accept payments for them, keep my 30% and forward the rest to them. This would eliminate their cash flow problems as many North American customers just don't know how to make payments to such far away lands as Great Britain? I suppose they just don't trust those businesses over there but would much rather send a guy in Indiana their money for something they bought from Europe. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense to me! I have received so many offers to help distribute huge sums of money to local charities that I am thinking about starting my own charitable foundation such as the twoshadows foundation. When I receive enough money I will put it into a foundation for my new house, which I cannot afford, but with all this cash I can get started soon! All of this for just being a nice guy with an honest reputation that is apparently talked about frequently, around the dinner table, all over the world! ;D
Now as far as those deceased relatives go, I will just wait for them to read the will and forward a check to me! A man or woman with that much money surely had the foresight to write a will? It should arrive about the same time my stimulating check arrives from the government! When it does I will buy everyone here a $20 Saint Gaudens gold piece.  I am not afraid to share my luck with my friends here. Just don't hold your breath waiting for the gold to arrive!!! ;D

Over the years I have been led to believe that I had millions and millions coming -- from various countries, but especially Nigeria.

My computer is now set to dump them all in the "junk" file, so I seldom see them any more.

When I received my very first one, I was intrigued, so asked our oldest son, an attorney, about it.  He explained what the scam was, and told us never to even open the message.

What continues to amaze me is how these people get away with it.

 :) :) :) :)

I'm pretty amazed this scam originated in a country as unlikely as Nigeria, which has since spread elsewhere. A while back, some British journalists did an expose of a few operating in London. I forget where I saw it--BBC perhaps, but it was very amusing how they led the operators on until a confrontation. From what I hear, the Nigerian govt. is very embarrassed how their country is associated with these bank transfer scams.

Nigeria is one of those countries where the whole rotten structure is corrupt, from the halls of government on down to the vendors on the street.  I worked with a guy in the oil company that was so glad to get out of there and not have to pay off people for "security" etc.

Where I am going I ain't certain
Where I am going I don't know
All I know is that I'am on my way

Thank you for all your heartfelt condolences on this loss, but economic and financial gain.  Now maybe I will be able to buy all those Monagasque gold coins that have Grace de Monaco on them. ;D

Maybe instead you could buy one of those adorable sets of Maneki Neko from the Perth mint. >.> Adorable bullion coins, but alas far out of my price range.
