Help Identifying 2 Arabics?
April 26, 2008, 04:12:19 AM
I have two small numismatic pieces with Arabic writing on them that I need some help in deciphering. I know one has the Toughra on it, so that's Ottoman, but which part? The other one is completely mystifying to me. If anyone can help, I'd be most thankful.
Do add this coin to my collection?
Cat? Australian? US? Really Old?

Ist one is 10 Para, not Arabic but an Ottoman coin.
I can't read the date but this type is struck between 1900 and 1904 during the reign of Abdul Hamid II.
Can't help you about the second one though

The second seems to have the same inscription on both sides. I suspect it's an "Islamic temple token" from India, or perhaps a charm from Malaya/Indonesia. eg-collector might be able to tell you what it says...

The 1st coin is Ottoman empire 10 Para, Sultan Abdul Hamid II. I cant see the date.
The words on the right pic says "Duriba fi Questentiniyah" meaning "Struck in Constantipole"
The 2nd coin although these are Arabic letters but the words are not arabic.
I think may be Iran.
Sorry i couldnt help
