Kitty's Monthly Coin Fix.
April 23, 2008, 06:43:53 AM
This past weekend I finally had the opportunity to go to the coin store and pick up a few little items. These are what I chose on my severely reduced coin-buying budget!

Germany, 1910, 25 pfennigs.  This little beauty was hiding in the scratch tray on the big table.

Portugal, 1969, 50 Escudos.  Commemorating explorer Vasco deGama.  I love the stylized portrait of deGama.

Great Britain, 1930, 1 Dollar.  This beauty set me back half of what I spent.  I still got a nice deal on her.

St Tome & Principe, 1970, 50 Escudos.  Celebrating 500 years of St Tome & Principe.  I have two of this coin now, but this one is far nicer than my first example.

Uruguay, 1969, 1000 Pesos. FAO Commemorative.

South Africa (British) 1949, 5 Shillings.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Nice stuff, really like the Portuguese, especially the Vasco de Gama.   ;D

The Great Britain Trade Silver Dollar is a nice coin and you have a good example.

I think you did well with your choice of coins you picked up.

All very nice looking coins, you did well.

I am partial to Portuguese coins too.

Good assortment of coins.   Happy to see a German coin with Mint Mark A=Berlin.  Now they are again issuing coins with mint mark A
