Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. While some of you know me I am sure many of you don't. I was one of the major players who started the Knights of the Coin Table years ago. We had a life together long before we had this actual forum and did experience some growing pains along the way but, as we know, we are still here. Some very good men were involved from the start and sadly many of them are no longer with us in this life and I miss the companionship we all shared.
Now I have reached retirement and was fortunate enough to land a very well paying job that will never be a job to me. Working in a coin shop is a dream and I only wish I could keep every great coin that goes through my hands! I have those days when I purchased much more than I made but, as a coin collector, I know I am not spending my money, I am converting it into a savings plan with a future that the banks no longer offer us! Three days a week I am in heaven (only open 3 days) and enjoy every moment.
Years ago (2007) we decided we wanted to do something other than wooden dollars and opted to go big time with a silver medallion. I received multiple emails, non stop, telling me not to attempt such an endeavor? Even the big coin clubs can't pull this off? We were a group of men based on honesty, integrity and ethics who knew we could and with the help of Mr. Daniel Carr our dream came true. And, quite honestly, it would have never happened without Daniel and the pay as you go opportunity he offered us and the men and women who stepped up to make the plan work! While you will never know them I think it is important that we never forget our Gary Burke and his family from Colorado, Old Dan from Wyoming and Catman from California. They were as much the heart and soul of this group as there will ever be.
We are a part of the only hobby where you can spend ALL your money and still have money! lol And, when the time comes, it just may be the hobby that saves you in your darkest hour! It doesn't get any better than that! Only a coin collector understands why!
