New Coin For Triggersmob
July 24, 2015, 05:32:13 AM
So, I recently worked out a trade with Triggersmob for a 1934-35 Florin.  As you can imagine, that is not a cheap coin, so there are quite a few coins I had to come up with on my end.  Steve wants to be surprised but he said I should post a section of one of the coins here and see if he can guess it.  Others are free to guess too!

Here we go!

Well, I don't think I can guess it from that pic. Erik is normally pretty good with these.
Let's see if he can work it out. :)

On second thoughts, it looks like the top of a 1 and 9 at the bottom of the pic
and maybe Lincoln's chin at the top. Now the next digit after the 9 does not
look like a 1 so I would guess a 3. So my guess is a 1931 S Lincoln Cent. :)

Good guess! You ever cracked open a slab before Steve?

NO, never even owned a slab. Now, do I crack it out or leave it.  :-\

Many thanks for helping with this coin, Matt.
Your NZ 1/2 crown is on it's way to me too.

Well, if you do, the best way I've found is to wrap it in a towel and tap the edge sternly with a light weight hammer. It might take a few taps, but if you set it on something hard, one or two blows gets the job done! Don't forget to wrap it in a towel though! You definitely DON'T want flying slivers of plexiglass shrapnel rocketing around!

Thanks for the advise Matt.
I think I might end up leaving it in the slab. :)

Don't worry he still cracks :D :D :D
I'll be cracking my first slab when/if the bastards ever get back here as apparently one has cleaned or something on it so not happy as I'll give one's for my collection acetone or wd to get rid of gunk or the green death if they're a more valuable coine but in general besides that I don't touch my good coins that go to the plastic factory so a bit disappointed :(

I have never sent a coin off to be slabbed. Not sure that I have any that would be worth slabbing.

Yes it's really put me off getting more done and it's quite expensive if you don't have heaps of money and they come back detailed, and I'm sure you'd have something there worth doing as your collection isn't that bad ;)
