So you like holey coins eh? One of my favorites is the New Guinea 1 shilling coin minted only in 1935, '36, '38, and '45. The neat thing about these coins is that they are sterling (92.5%) silver, and have comparatively low mintages from 1.36 million to 3.4 million. I think you'll like them if you don't have a few in your collection already.

I do like the 1 Shilling from New Guinea. I have a 1936, only 1.36 million minted.

Steve, now that is a nice coin with the toning.....and its SILVER. I have a few foreign 'Holey' coins that are just sitting around (I think I do....haven't looked in a few yrs). I don't think there is any real value to them. Might you want them?

Sorry Sir Goose, but the coin Steve has pictured (Spain 50 Centimos) is copper-nickel, not silver, and is either KM# 776 (a one year type), or KM# 777. He would have to show us the reverse of the coin to actually tell the difference, either "arrows pointing down" (#776), or "arrows pointing up" (#777), but until we can see the reverse, there's no telling which variety it is. Hopefully it is #776. That coin is worth a bit more than it's cousin #777.

O.K. guys. Think I got it figured out without seeing the reverse. Magnified the picture Steve posted, and looked at the STAR to the right of "Espana", and you can see the number "6" (the other number is worn away). That makes the coin KM# 777. For the coin to be #776, there could only be the numeral "51" in that star. There is no numeral that begins with a "6" for that variety. Sorry Steve, I was hoping it was #776. Even I don't have the #776 in my collection!

O.K. Sir Steve. The first 3 notes you show are what is referred to as "Allied Military Currency" or just "AMC", and these notes were issued in areas that were occupied by the Allied powers during WWII. The fist note is from Japan, 10 Sen, 1945, P63. The second is from France, 2 Francs, 1944, P114. The third is from Germany, 1/2 Mark, 1944, P191.  The next note is from the Philippines, Japanese Occupation, 1000 Pesos, 1945, P115. And lastly, Burma, Japanese Occupation, 10 Rupees, 1942-44, P16.

As for the "1 Shilling New Guinea' coin shown above, I didn't look at it....just glanced, and I didn't enlarge it to see that it was from Spain. IF I looked at it, I would have noticed it wasn't from New Guinea. The N G shilling is one of my favorite coins and I have been collecting them for a few yrs now.

I understand that the Oceania JIM was only for use in British Oceania i.e. TheGilberts, Solomons, New Britain and papua New Guinea.  It was not made for Australia.
