Curiously enough the French seem to be the only ones actively pursuing the pirates -  they have rescued their nationals on several occasions already, even going into Somalia to do it.

They talk about these "mother ships" how about just lobbing a anti-ship missile into them and taking them out.  Then destroy their bases on land.  But the problem is... the lousy UN.  They seemingly are useless in practically every international problem now.

A French official just casually announced that a pirated yacht was "stormed" and the pirates killed . Unfortunately the owner did not survive the operation . The other four including a child are allright . ( Flemish TV ) Message is clear . Killing pirates is more important than not coming out with dead civilians . I think the Somalis will try to avoid French ships from now on . They do not need the hassle .

The UN does absolutely nothing lately.  If it is some anti-USA resolution the Chinese and Russians are all for it, and the USA vetoes it.  If it is something against N. Korea or Serbia or something China and Russia veto it.  The common problem is the veto power of the permanent members, ala Russia, the USA, China.  The USA has used it's veto power consistently since the 1960's in resolutions passed against Israel, and the others have used them with Serbia, Kenya, N. Korea etc.

When the Ukrainian ship MV Faina was seized last year, it was literally held for months.  There was no way Ukraine could do anything militarily, and finally they ended up paying a lesser ransom to free the ship and crew.  Russia did step up patrols in the region, only because 3-4 of the crew were Russian nationals.

Curiously the only time the USA has ever gotten praise for anything from N. Korea was when the US Navy assisted a N. Korean ship that had been overtaken, and they fought off the attackers and the Navy sent people over to assist the crew afterwards in securing the ship and assisting the wounded crew.

They should have never been in those places in the first place, they could have used some enhanced firepower(I will leave that to interpretation) and taken them all out, and as you said, let God sort them out.  Russian veterans of the Afghan conflict have been advising that there is no way anyone is going to win there using conventional means.  Something cultural with the people in those regions that lets them switch sides and be duplicitous with ease.

Honestly I am less concerned about Jose coming over to work illegally and more concerned about all the narco traffic and potential terrorists that are coming over - that is where the real problem is on the Mexican frontier.

I agree with that, however the country going bankrupt due to billions going for schools, healthcare and prisons for illegals is darn well a big problem.

Of course the way things are going, we won't have to wait that long to go bankrupt.

Have a read up on Stephen Decatur and the USS Philadelphia and the Barbary pirates.  Aside from the British, the Barbary pirates were the first exercise of American naval power ever.

But the illegals want to work, and believe me there are a lot of people here that don't - they are parked on welfare and WIC programmes and buying the high priced ice cream so they can fatten their voluminous carcasses all the more at public expense.  I say let the illegals work, and send these sponges to Mexico.  Then Mexico will have illegals too.

The bottom line on most situations facing the U.S. is based on two things---ILLEGAL and LEGAL. The second you do something ILLEGAL you are a criminal and it should be dealt with. I have NO problem with immigration when it is done within the limits of the law. Controled and orderly with a balance any nation can deal with. We have many a great man and woman, both in the past and present, who came here to build a life for their families and have contributed much to our history. I am sorry I can't say the same for the illegals. READ the police blotters in any paper. Have a car wreck with illegals involved or roam a neighborhood where they and their newly formed gangs now reside. We have a choice---deal now or deal later! The same goes for our pirate problem.
Now for the Middle East I say its way past time to get out. NOTHING we can do will change those people or their way of life without at least two generations of work, education and freedoms which they have never had. I really don't want to take on millions of immigrants in another country and that is exactly what it would be like doing.
I will go on to say that nothing just happens. The powers that be must LET it happen and its all for an agenda that is way beyond most folks imagination. Of course I also believe assassinations do not just happen. They must be allowed to happen and its been that way since the beginning of this country. Its all about who's in charge and their agenda. We went through years being taught to hate the Soviet Union and its people? Why? And for what end? Government uses fear as a weapon against its people to stay in power in every country on the planet. Seems there are many more kinds of fear than most folks realize?

Bring the boys home to do the same thing. Southern border needs help. Wallstreet and most major corporations need a good cleaning out. Maybe that is what it will take to finally put a little fear in the greedy crooks who have been running the world the past 20 or 30 years?
