PayPal?
November 11, 2008, 01:45:37 AM
I guess I'm done with ebay. Everything I looked at this morning was PalPal only including a seller that I just bought a token from last week and paid for with a money order.  I though ebay had changed their mind on going to PalPal only?

ebay owns paypal and the posters get a costreduction for offering paypal and the buyer gets adds saying NOT insured unless you use paypal
However I got paypal by debitcard and they tried twice to get my bankaccount to get from under the cost of the mastercard debitcard

Where I am going I ain't certain
Where I am going I don't know
All I know is that I'am on my way

As a buyer I prefer paypal cause you get a free insurance that thing is mailed and cause it is three computer clicks to pay versus like 50 lettres of code to get thru my bankcomputer
For the umptheenth time I got a problem that I won something too cheap and the vendor is not giving his name . With paypal I would just transfer the money and not need his name . Now I have to ask ebay his name which may be false like the last was .
Oh and ebay wished me luck trying to get my money back ( They still are operating from Holland )

fleaBay went paypoo only on 20th October.  There are many auctions that still offer other payment options, but now they are in violation of fleaBay's new dictates.

I've been spending $240-$300/month on coins from eBay for many yrs ONLY using money orders. Now I have to scroll and see if the seller accepts M Os. Some say they do in their ads, and if I see a real nice coin, I email the seller asking if they accept M Os. So far, about half of them say they do, so I bid. So far in the last 3 weeks, I've spent only $50 instead of my usual $200+/-. I really think eBay's incoming fees are down somewhat.....no checks, no money orders, no chashier's checks = less sales.

Oh well, I'll just save money.......like our gas now at $1.94/gal (Paid $4.13/gal a yr ago)

Well ebay is down and firing employees
and second the only time in my life I used a money order for 60 silver eagles I was defrauded and even the local american police laughed at me after I filed with the FBI and Postal and Fair trade etc
Only an american could go to small claims court and file and get his money back
So for me Never again I buy in America and Never again I use a money order
Unncessary to say I do not buy in Hong Kong and not in Switzerland
Anything with a customs border in between and out of driving distance is now OUT on ebay
I am such a good customer I got 20 euro encouragement money on my last complaint  ;D a guy that no longer could find the coin I had bought so cheaply  ???

On my wifes account I complained on a parfume seller and I got from Holland the cryptic message they wished me good luck
Only big bucks count to ebay

We had this problem in Australia some months ago.  The ACCC (the Australian government organisation responsible for ensuring compliance with the Trade Practices) refused to let them do it.

I know when we bleated like stuck sheep on the US forums, we got absolutely no sympathy.  Welcome to what was our world.  Too bad you have no govt agency that will look after the customer.

Wait for it........... Told you so  ;D

I have a solution for the paypal/ebay problem.  Don't use them.  I got a $25 giftcard for paypal for my birthday, and am having a hard time even using it.  I did buy a book of poetry and a Russian CD, but I still have $18 left on the card.

Thanks,  I didn't even know they sold them but I can probably live with that.  What we all need is  for ebay to have a real competitor to knock them down a couple of pegs.

I read their earnings are down because of fixed price competition by Amazon
Not so in europe as far as I can see here Amazon is mostly CD's and Books at a nice discount

Is the card under Paypals name or something else that can be used as Paypal?

It is specifically a fleaBay/Paypoo card.  I am on a mission to expand my Russian music collection with it, and actually I found a CD I could not even find anywhere in Ukraine.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find one.

As I understand it you have three options

1) people that accept paypal only if you have a paypal account with money in your paypal account
that money gets there if you receive payments or you transfer it from your bank
2) people that will also accept paypal if paypal has to get the money first from the debitcard you submitted
I submitted eurocard/mastercard
3) In Germany paypal is pushing their own "creditcard" and in Belgium they are trying to get my bankaccount
and the agreement they can directly charge my bank which is even better to them

I guess everything should be explained on the homepage I attach since it says paypal US
PS Do carefully read the transfer limits because lifting the limits costs money and not lifting them you only
have so much a year you can send and so much a year you can receive
I lifted the limits on the sending but not the receiving

Thanks for the link. I'm not jumping through too many hoops with this just so sellers can get paid faster and ebay can pick up more fees.  I'll buy a pre-paid card if it's easy to find and buy  and I can use it on  ebay.  If not they  can  kiss my Yankee butt.
