It's almost been a year!
August 24, 2008, 02:55:03 AM
It was on 9-12-2007 that (Terry) Twoshadows set the stage for Knights of the Coin Table to start building a castle online.

The first true attempt to set up an online forum which was done about 10 days later using a shareware program called "Phorum". This program was really a DUD and didn't do anything for the Knights other that show us that what we needed something a little more powerful and secure.

It was on 9-30-07 the first installation of the program we all use now was uploaded into its cyber slot in GoDaddy's vast array of server hardware and on 10-03-07 the Admin username "Twoshadows" was first entered into its memberlist.

For those who have been around to experience all of the growing pains that took place from this point, no further explanation of how and what we have acheived since then is necessary and I want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding, and for those who didn't get this opportunity, I'm afraid no explanation of what took place would be possible. To even attempt to recall all the goof-ups, gliches, gremlins and not to forget all of the necessary and un-necessary mistakes made by ME (TKO) trying to figure out what did what and everything else this software was and was not capable of doing, would be virtually impossible. Maybe a thread called: "Your Most Memorable Growing Pain on the KOTCT Forum" might be in order. Then yet, maybe not. I really don't want to remember most of what happend or the time spent trying to fix it.

After all the pains and a few other software additions (Bells & Whistles) the KOTCT Forum is what it is today. Safe, secure, functional, reliable and most of all FUN for all to enjoy. It has been running on autopilot for months now with only about an hour a month of maintenance to do to keep things smooth. Short of having some type of GoDaddy issue, I believe that it will continue to do so until it is told otherwise.

All for now,

TKO

I appreciate TKO's post concerning our hectic beginning here at our own castle but would have to also say it was a GROUP effort to get where we are today. It seems this rag tag bunch of collectors, through the past few years, have come together with impossible dreams but they do NOT acknowledge the impossible part! We continue to move forward as a group, willing to contribute whatever it takes to remain successful, with dreams yet spoken. Who knows what tomorrow may bring to all who stay faithful to this forum and the friends world wide who call this castle home. It has been an honor from our humble beginning years ago and it remains an honor to call all of you friends. It has taken the efforts of each and everyone Knight and Knightess to build this castle and to set the standards that other forums can only dream of reaching. Thanks to everyone here for building OUR castle as each one of us has a stake in our future.

It was a group effort alright, and it seems the group manages to be named Terry. ;D

I am fortunate enough to be one of the first of the "new generation" of Knights, having been invited shortly after separation of this group from the old CCF forum.  I had been wondering where the links had gone, when Terry Twoshadows sent me an email inviting me to join.  I accepted ecstatically and haven't looked back once.

Thank you, Terry.

And thank YOU Terry TKO!  Without your knowledge, patience, and hard work we the Knights of the Coin Table would not have a place to sit infront of the fire, nor a table to sit 'round and lift our mugs of mead in honour of our Terrys.

Cheers!

Do add this coin to my collection?

Many thanks to the Two Terry's (TT's) without whom, none of us would have this unique Castle to call home.

I spend more 'forum' time here than anywhere else and the camaraderie here is second to none.

A huge "WELL DONE" to all members whose exemplary behaviour proves that moderation is rarely necessary.

This is the first and only coin collecting forum that I'm associated with, and I've enjoyed every minute of it! :) Folks have been helpful in answering questions, I've made some new friends, done a few trades, etc... Special thanks to the 2 T's who keep this thing going strong. My hat's off to you gents! Keep up the good work! :)

Just a thought regarding "old business" as we approach our first anniversary.

Remember, we selected an "Oustanding Knight," and planned to make the award an annual affair, usually around our anniversary date.

We also discussed awarding those honored with something -- perhaps a plaque.

If we intend to make this a tradition, we should probably do some posting on the subject.

 :) :) :) :)

Interesting Knight connection with that. Sept 12,  was the day Jack and Jackie Kennedy got married in 1953.  Only this Camelot is going to last a lot longer.   :)

BTW, that was also the same day and year my parents got married.

A year already? Where has the time gone? I have spent over 6 days of it, right here on the forum.

Thanks to the two Terrys for making this possible. Great job, Guys.

CoinCrusader I would suggest you start another thread for your idea. We will have to work out the details for nominations and then the voting process? As I stated months ago I can get my paws on an amazing glass globe set on a glass base, just like a real globe, but its images are etched into the glass. We would be looking at a $100 award and then the shipping costs. Of course I can cut it down a bunch with a lesser costing award so all I need is the go ahead to pursue such award. Just need a price range as $30 to $50 can also buy a very attractive award. One thing is for certain we still owe D. Carr for 2007 if we do indeed start this program.

Twoshadows,

I'll get a thread started.

If my suggestions aren't acceptable, I'm sure members will contact me and we'll make changes.

 :) :) :) :)

Up-Date:  See elsewhere in this section for the new thread!!

G'day all.
I'm back on board, I'll be in any sort of party.
Need a cheer-up, the bigger the better.
A 1st BIRTHDAY PARTY sounds great.

Any opinions on a new format or the old reliable 'Secret Santa' style.
It's worked well before

regards,
