Japan Yen, Gin left, Chopped.
August 09, 2008, 02:32:54 PM

An apparent eBay victory.  I picked this coin up for a decent price, and so long as it isn't counterfeit, I'll be content even with the corrosion on the bottom.

This is a Japanese 1 Yen coin, countermarked with the Gin stamp left, and also with Chopmarks from the Orient trade. :)

A fantastic addition to my chop collection.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Hehe, Sorry Nighthawk.  Not lamb or porkchops, Chinese chops! Although, that does sound pretty darn tasty.  Tonight's dinner menu is beans and rice, in flour tortillas, with salsa!  Mmmmm.  Cheap, cheap, cheap, and rather healthy all things considered. :)  Shopping's a breeze for it too.

And, no one has missed my birthday yet. >.> It's on the calendar, and it's next week. <.<  I was trying to hide that fact though. >.>

And yes, CC.  I do have a very varied interest in coins.  Too varied, actually.  It makes it really hard to focus on any one collection and finish it, but at the same time I'm very happy with the coins I do have.   This fascination with chopmarked coins is a new one.

Do add this coin to my collection?

She arrived today!  And she's lovely in hand, if I can just find a way to get that ikky green stuff off the bottom of it.

I would try dabbing a cotton swap with acetone(nail polish remover)on a small part of the coin to remove the barnacles on the coin.
