Away from castle
September 11, 2012, 10:11:13 AM

Well 3 days ago I was home with my wife when I received a phone call from my sister.    My mother was staying with here 400kms away over winter.

It appears that my sister could not wake my mother so called the ambulance.   Well to cut a long story short, she had had a stroke and they took here to hospital.  I hoped into my car and travelled travelled 4 hours to be with her.

She is fine and recovering so that is good but will be in hospital for a while.

Have my laptop so will check in whenever I can.   Will still do any checks needed for new member to enter castle.

Barry, I am sorry to hear this bad news.
Remember there is hope of a full recovery though.
My Father had a stroke a few years ago, but you wouldn't
know now. My thoughts will be with your family.

Many thanks for all of your messages.

She was a bit better yesterday but is still very tired.   Speech therapy and physio and her first solid (minced) food.

They are hoping to move her to a rehabilitation hospital within next couple of days.

Still away from home but may go back when she has been moved for rehabilitation, my sister will look after her.  I do not think she will return to her home and will stay permanently with my sister who will become her carer.

Well my situation has changed (not my doing) so I will be on the move again over the next two weeks. I am not real sure how long I will be off line but it may be a few days. I am having trouble with hotmail at this time, not to mention this computer, so if you need me you can email here through the forum or use mountainclimber51@yahoo.com as it is my backup email. Will try and keep everyone posted so I am not gone too long. (I hate moving)

Many thanks for all your posts.

I have not been around the castle much (just quick visits) as I spend a week at home and a week up north with my mother.

She is still in hospital but yesterday they moved her into the rehabilitation ward and they expect to discharge her on 29th October.

She will not return to her home and will move in with my sister who will become her care giver.  She is looking for a house to rent that would allow mum to be with her (no steps, easy access shower etc) and will move closer to Brisbane so we will only have to drive 1-1/2 hours to see her.  AT the moment it takes me 3-31/2 hour to get there.

Any way should be able to spend more time in the castle from now on. Will not head north again for 2 weeks due to other commitments.

Thanks again for all of your posts.
