Nicest Looking Coin
October 23, 2009, 10:03:05 PM
OK, I have asked for your ugliest coin, so I think it's only fair,
that we now see what you consider to be the best looking coin in circulation.

Personally, I am very fond of this one...

It has a simple elegance about it. Not over cluttered.

How on earth do you choose just one?

Well, out of all the coins I love for their beauty, the coins of Japan always stand out. Especially the 5 sen series.  I think they're gorgeous.

1916
1934
1940

I could probably post at least ten more WWII era Japanese coins here, and be content. :)

Do add this coin to my collection?

I wanted the 2007 Mongolian "Wolverine" so badly but passed on it. Today I would be looking at $130 plus shipping to get this high relief, very limited silver coin with crystal eyes! A truly modern era dragon to me!!!

I agree with Nighthawk about the Walker and the Eagle. But I also agree with ElleKitty when she says, "How do you choose just one"?

TWO OF THE BEST DESIGNS ARE THE INDIAN PENNY AND THE BUFFALO NICKEL
THESE TWO EXAMPLES ARE NOT MY BEST BUT I THINK YOU CAN GET THE IDEA

I agree with you Templar, but the mint saw their 'Golden Opportunity', and with no ideas of their own, they came up with the idea of   BUFFALO coins to make money. Heck, after the original Buffalo nickel, they produced at least 5 more Buffalo coins, and another Buffalo coin might be minted (National Park-Yellowstone Quarter). Yeah, they call it a 'Bison', but to most, it's a Buffalo.
